Hi, I live in Florida. I rehab squirrels. Some of the squirrels in my yard have squirrel pox. I would like to help them. A couple of them have an outbreak of many pox on them. I heard that they can be treated with acyclovir or Zorvirax. Could you please let me know if there is a medication that I could give them daily to help them. I called the Florida Wildlife and they told me that usually a squirrel with pox dies, but I have seen in the past that some of them do not die, but in fact get better and live for years. The hospital told me that if I bring them to their facility that they would put them out of their misery. I don't want them
uthenized. My phone number is 321-676-1587. I would appreciate a phone call from you if you know what I could do to help these poor squirrels.
Best Regards, Susie

My students and I have been doing some internet research. What we found does not sound good. Go to the following site-www.wildthingssantuary.org/squirrel-pox.html
