Hey all, i was wondering how often and how long you let your little ones out every day for play time? I wish i could hqve her out more, but even when she is out,all she wants to do is sniff the carpet! She never really takes advantage of her time out of her cage, so just wondering how normal this is?

Yes, how old is she and what size cage do you have her in now? Is she going to be released in the spring or is she NR?

Is this one of the three tiny guys or is it your older baby? How did your neighbor do with the siblings? It might be a good idea to see if you can get them together as this is how they actually learn to play and to explore. They sort of do it as a group with others their age when possible.

I am so sad to say that the three little ones did'nt make it...my neighbors two, one got very bloated, the other he said seemed to be doing well, so he didnt know what happened, and mine...i had her on some blankets with a heating pad under, and im guessing something went wrong with the pad, because it was on the same setting as allways, but i went to give her her two hour feeding and she was extremely hot! I was sooo upset, but she was still alive,so i thought she would be ok, but she did die a few hours later. I feel so bad about it, but i do feel good that we did at least to reunite wirh the mother.

Now about Sunny, she is 7 months old now, and she is by herself in her cage, which is very large. I had it made, and it is about 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide. I have alot of branches for her to climb on. But when she comes out for some time to roam around, all she does is sniff around on the floor and of course tries to eat everything she can find. She sits on my shoulder for anwhile around the house, so she gets some different scenery, lol. I plan on keeping her, does anyone else have thiers to keep? She just seems to want to eat ALL the time! I fee dher a block of harlan one in the morning and one at night. In the afternoon she has only veggies, cabbage, broccoli, etc. I can never just leave food in there, because she eats everything up right away! I just wish she would run around more, to get more excersize

What is her daily diet like? Why are you limiting her food intake?
Why are you not releasing her? Is she the first squirrel you've had?
Most people keep a bowl of Teklad in the cage all day long in case their squirrels get hungry.
One in the morning and one in the evening is NOT enough at all, she is probably "starving".
Mine won't touch them. They eat Henry's which are made specifically for squirrels.

HHBs from henryspets.com are what you can give 2 per day of for full nutrition. You have to keep a decent sized bowl filled with them if you feed Harlan Teklad blocks. She is probably sniffing around looking for food because she is hungry. They need a constant source of food as their metabolism is so high that they burn a lot just by being squirrels.

She is hungry all the time, which is why is why i dont feed her freely, i have tried that, and she literally will eat till she is sick. And she is very fat now, so if she ate more, i would be afraid for her health.

She's a growing Fox Squirrel, she needs to be larger than the greys.
Have you looked at the nutrition chart?
Are you feeding her Henry's Blocks?
How much does she weigh?
