OK ... this might work. :tilt
Chibbie, I saw your post on 1/26/15 looking for a flyer. Have you done your homework? What made you want a flyer? Are you prepared for the nocturnal thing? :grin2 It's a little tough on 'day shift' people. :klunk Are you aware that they can live 15 years in captivity? Of course, that would be the exception but with proper care they easily live over 10 years. By the way, you can bond with a year old flyer. My first was 18 months when I got him.
kpbubster, we are neighbors. I live in Lithia also. Do you live in Lithia Lithia or FH Lithia. :poke You'll know what that means. I have three flyers. No, I don't need another. :grin2 Tell us a little about your girl. What type diet has she been on?
Let's see if we can get this done here. Although, I personally won't 'buy' a flyer ... we need to be careful with a 'free' one. kpbubster, I would not put your girl on Craigslist. She might become snake food or be taken by someone on impulse that has NO idea about the commitment that is required for one of these precious sweeties. Be very careful where she goes. People jump on board wanting a flyer and then a few months later discovers it's more than they bargained for, so the 'loser' in the deal is the animal.
I feel like an adoption counselor. :peace You guys are a little over 200 miles apart ... about 3 and half hours.

:great Right You are H4S, even after multiple Home Checks, Credit and FBI background checks, Hours of Neighbor interviews, Blood panels, and maybe a DNA series, on the prospective Parent(s), I would still probably Keep the Lil' Fuzzer for Myself.:tilt 200 miles isn't "that" Great a distance, wouldn't an Open adoption be Great.:thumbsup

Haha that is the exact reason I have such a hard time finding homes for any of my foster babies, no matter what the species. I have always required a vet reference (aka I call the vet and make sure their pets are up to date and all that jazz). Needless to say as a result I had quite a few "foster failures." :grin3

:great Amen pixiepoo, at least human Children grow up and have an option. BTW concerning the air quality problem you were having, have You looked into room purifiers. They actually eliminate the Microbes that cause odor. Search Air Purifiers @ www.walmart.com :thumbsup

I have one but it doesn't quite do the trick with my squirrels. I also have 4 currently so that is likely half of the issue. I just dislike completely changing 3 big cages every other day. With just Pixie it isn't so bad but Pip in particular enjoys urinaring outside of his cage :tap

:wave123 Hi Chibbie, and :Welcome to The Squirrel Board. Thank You for Your interest in providing care and housing to a relocated Flyer, and yes being a nocturnal person will be beneficial, ha. I hope the past couple of posts didn't put You off, we were just bantering on how difficult it can become to find a good HOF. (Human Owned by a Flyer, ha.) FBI checks, etc., aren't really a requirement to own a Flying Squirrel, so pay no attention to the Black SUV's parked on Your street, or the sound of Helicopters buzzing over Your home, ha.:grin2 I'm fairly new at Southern Flying Squirrel's myself,(3 months), and I continue to learn new and vital information everyday. Several members have been providing very good insight and experienced information to a new HOF on a current thread entitled: Hi I'm fixing to be a new mommy, You can review it in the Introduce Yourself section. This member is expecting to receive 2 six week old Flyers tomorrow, and they like Yourself, are trying to gather as much information as possible to be fully prepared. Keep posting and asking as many questions as You can, and You will get many good answer's, and more help than You could Imagine.:thumbsup

Chibbie! You're right near me! I also live in Middleburg, about 2 min from Orange Park. Have you ever had the opportunity to interact with flyers (sorry if you mentioned this and I missed it). If not, you're welcome to visit my house and handle some of my guys (I have 4 to play with ranging from 8 weeks to adults). Shoot me a PM if you would like to. :)

That's great!! We would love to. I'm so excited to know I have someone right around the corner who has flyers. I rescued a standard squirrel back when I was a teen but that was a long time ago..lol.
I got a call today from a woman in Tx. that I've been facebooking that she has two babies that will be coming into our family. We are Soooooo excited! ! We still want to take in this one if you would like. I have two cages that we cam either keep separate or put together. .I have ordered a large cage set with bonding pouches, and toys. Email me and we can talk. Pixiepoo would love to meet you and your babies.
