My adult NR squirrel has had a problem with 'wetting' herself and her bedding for some time now. She also urinates plenty on the newspaper on the floors of her cage. Twice, I have given her a round of antibiotics thinking she has a bladder infection or UTI. It doesn't seem to change anything as she stills pees on herself. Just about every day when I pick her up, she is wet on the inside of her back legs. She acts fine but has been bad about finishing her meals lately. Kita is about 3 1/2 years old and blind. When I observe her urinating, she doesn't appear to be straining anymore (there for a while, I did notice her only 'dribbling' small amounts of urine at a time). Anyone else have this problem with their adult squirrels? Any suggestions? Thanks for any input.

I would get a urine culture done just to make sure there is no infection. UTIs can be difficult to get rid of.

Ditto.. I had a male that required two rounds of abxs.
Doc did a urine culture and proscribed metacam ( anti inflamatory ) with the second round of abx. That fixed it. They can be troublesome to clear.

Thanks for the input. I'm at the point that I think Kita should probably see a vet for testing too. The thing is that she acts fine...except for this pee problem.

The most effective are SMZ-TMP, or Baytril (enrofloxacin), or its human form Cipro.
