Has anyone experienced absence seizures with their squirrels that can explain the symptoms from their own experience? I know the signs can be easily missed and vague

One of mine did a strange thing today. He was wrapped around my hand play biting my finger (whilet I TRIED to clean) and suddenly went completely still, clamped down on my finger with his eyes closed.

He never bites hard and this wasn't a typical aggressive bite. Once he clamped down he didn't move even when I was trying to get my finger back. I had to gently pry his mouth open to remove him, during which he didn't even react. Then he opened his eyes and all was normal. The whole thing was just a few seconds

Am I being paranoid lol?

There is NEVER a silly question so this is very interesting. Can you tell us a little about the boy? Age, diet and was there any head injury along the way or before you got him?

Duh! :bash His history would probably help haha! I obviously have squirrel brain...

So I received him at approximately 3-4wks old when a crow grabbed him from the nest and then dropped him over a parking lot. His eyes were still closed, minor scratches around eye/head area. He was raised on Fox Valley formula. He eats HHB, Oxbow rat food, kale, butter lettuce, Brussel sprouts, blueberries, cranberries, native food I collect, and 1 nut in the shell at night. Also has antlers, bones, mineral chews and cuttlebone. His enclosure is 8x4 and 6ft high

I have not seen signs of head trauma such as head tilt, falling, ect BUT he's unusually friendly still. Acts like a 5-6wk juvenile maturity wise despite CLEARLY becoming mature if ya know what I mean

Edit: He did not require any antibiotic treatment for his minor injuries and and has been uncomplicated medically. He was 63gm upon arrival

All sounds PERFECT!!! Great job by the way! It may just be a sort of trance brought on by physical affection. Rub his cheeks and he goes into a "trance"... It surely isn't diet related!:thumbsup

Yay! I'm glad diet is good! :grin2

He does love jaw rubs, he will drool lol. But this was like a shut off switch was pushed? From the crazy wrestling activity to, boom, no movement or response eyes closed and jaw locked down. It was instant and then just as suddenly he resumed wrestling. He wasn't having relaxing time

I'm such a worrier lol!
