This thread has brought tears to my eyes a few times, but this morning they are very happy tears! You are doing a wonderful job and I think generally a foxer is okay with 3 blocks a day. Keep up the good work!:Love_Icon

My gray squirrel is a BIG boy, and he gets 3 a day. I also supply him with Harlan Teklad lab blocks - they are ALWAYS in his cage, on the off chance he actually gets hungry. I think he likes them for their hardness - like gnawing a branch they are good for the teeth. He can have as many of those as he wishes.

If you add a second "free feed" block, I would stick to either Harlan Teklad 2014 or the little Oxbow ones they sell in pet stores that look like little hearts. The Harlan Teklad is probably the best quality of the available commercially made lab blocks. Ebay usually has good prices: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-lb-Sample-Teklad-14-Protein-Lab-Block-Pet-Rodent-Food-Rat-Mouse-Hamster-/231464610409?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35e45daa69

Thanks for the feed back SammysMom & CritterMom!!! I value all y'alls opinion! After all, if it weren't for y'all Tasha and Rocky wouldn't have made it to begin with! Tasha is getting more "pushy"about how I handle her. She is getting where she doesn't like me "peeing" her. She will allow me to hold her upright over the sink and express her bladder, but she doesn't like lying sideways or on her back to be stimulated. I think she's getting ready to be independent!!! I believe our relationship will be forever changed, but I know she'll never let me hold her again once she gets on her feet. But I'll be okay with that! I just want to see her hang from her back legs and stretch towards the floor!!! I really believe it's just a matter of time! Btw, I got my results and MY tumor is BENIGN!!! GOD IS AWESOME!

play the lottery today!

Thanks y'all! I probably should have played the lottery Nancy! WellvTasha is steady gaining weight. She's at 566 grams now. She is kicking the fire out with her legs when I'm holding her up to "pee" her. She DON'T like me doing it. But l have to make sure she's urinating... I put her down today and again it looks a little like she is pushing with one of her legs. The same one as the other day.
Her leg kicking tells me that she will walk again someday. They're getting strong! Again thanks for all the well wishes and support!!!:Love_Icon

Poor little thing. :(

She still has a long way to go! I wonder if being on a carpet would help? That way she can push off a little and it will not bunch up under her?

It is good to keep getting video, that really helps if you need to look back to see how much she has progressed.

I feel for her, it must be INCREDIBLY scary for a squirrel to not be able to leap, jump and climb.:grouphug

Please give her a gentle hug and tell her it is from uncle TubeDriver, her long distance friend. :hug:hug:wave123

She is beautiful! I think she definitely getting some movement in at least one of her back legs. Keep up the physical therapy and let her stretch those legs! Good job sticking to it. She is lucky to have someone who is so devoted to her happiness and well-being!

Bath mats are good, so are the rubber backed entry mats. You want cut pile, not the loop types which will snag nails.

Sometime you can get carpet remnants for next to nothing and even the Dollar Store has entry way mats. Don't much care what they look like. Tasha WILL walk again--and do the things squirrels love (and that give us gray hairs).

At the hardward store I got pieces of runner by the foot. I get it cut the size of the cage that I use it in. It is very low pile and would be perfect for you and Tasha.

Aw, that is great! She just needed some traction!

She probably won't ever get ALL the way to 100%, but you will be shocked, regardless of how far she comes back, at how well she will adjust to what she ends up with. I have a friend with a fox squirrel that had her pelvis crushed by a dog as a wee baby. Her back legs don't work quite the way they should...she came to visit with her mom once and you should have seen us trying to get her back in her cage! She was VERY interested in continuing to investigate all the new stuff that was around her, and her mom and I were doing NFL diving catches trying to get the little crud! She would sit in one place looking all innocent, flipping her tail at us; we would flank her and go in for the catch and ZIP - gone - there she is on the other side of the %^$$#@* room flipping that little tail. We kept shouting "YOU ARE HANDICAPPED!!!" I predict that this time next year, those words will be coming out of YOUR mouth!

I know she'll probably never be the same, but I'm gonna be here for whatever comes OUR way!! I JUST THOUGHT SHE HAD MY HEART BEFORE!!! Watching her fight for her life, and letting me care for her, trusting me... Suffice it to say that I will do whatever it takes to make her happy!!! She didn't take a step today, but definitely moved her legs as she's been doing. I will never give up hope of seeing her sitting on her hind legs to eat,

TASHA STOOD ON ALL FOURS AND TOOK A COUPLE OF STEPS AND ACTUALLY HAD HER TAIL CURLED UP IN THE AIR FOR A FEW SECONDS!!!! Darn it all ot happened so quick I didn't have my phone to record it. I don't want to tire her out or I'd go back there now. But several different times she was on all fours and taking a couple of steps before losing her balance! I have an entry way rug, but plan to get a larger one... IT WAS AMAZINGGGG!!!!

It is their nature, as prey animals, to LOOK and ACT as normal as they possibly can, so as not to become a victim of a predator. That will work against them overall when they begin to feel better because they will overdo it and just like us when we do the weekend warrior thing and pay the price Monday morning, they can do too much. When they start to feel a little better is when you REALLY have to watch them!

I had certainly planned to come, but it's gonna depend on Tasha.... If she can't eat on her own, I won't be able to make it. She freaks out really bad when I take her to the vet. Not sure bout cross country... She eats her blocks fone, but she won't take fluid on her own. She won't let anyone but me handle her. We'll see though... Isn't it March 28th?
