Hi everyone! Just wondering if babies loose their white teeth and the orange ones come in or if the white ones turn orange over time? Nubbins has been acting funny this morning and I noticed when I was playing with her that her face was sensitive. When I forced her to let me look (not an easy task at all mind you she's freakin fast for having only 3 legs) it appears either one of the bottom teeth either fell out or broke off at or near the gum line. She does not have access to anything that she would not have out in the wild (tree limbs, hickory/pecan cases etc...) and she does not chew have a habit of chewing on her cage (actually not seen her do this once). She does not have her adult bottoms yet. Tops are very orange. So I was wondering if they loose their bottom teeth or do they just one day start turning orange?

If broken I'm concerned it may be results of malnutrition/meds from when I first got her and all her other issues (maybe a week point in the growth of that tooth). Or possible abscess.

She will not let me get a real good look and can't get a pic right now. Will try to post a pic if I can get one.

They do not lose them, but they do sometimes break them due to a fall or catching them on something. They go orange as they get older. The issue would be that the others may need to be clipped so as to have them grow evenly. Do you have access to a vet?

Thank you! Just didn't want to worry if it was just a loose tooth.

Yes we have a vet, I'll call them in the morning. This is Nubbins my three legged NR one with all the issues - came in to me a couple back in middle of Oct. banged up, beat up and malnourished on cows milk, broken arm, chewed her own leg off, then got infections from the bites. She knows her vet well - poor baby :shakehead. Geeze she is the toughest little accident prone fuzz-ball ever! I'm wondering if she just had a week spot where it was growing when all this other stuff was taking place? I'll also check her cage tomorrow to see if she's got something in there that she could snag it on.

FYI...
The teeth you are referring to (incisors) as stated they don't lose and they
will continue to grow at a rate of 4-5 inches each year as long as there
is no injury or root damage that would prevent it. This is why their need
(and ours if necessary) is so important to keep them filed down.

A baby/young grey will lose their Premolars "milk teeth" for adult molars
between 6 - 12 months of age.

Nubbins is eating fine this morning and not as sore. She is ripping around the cat tree like nobody's business. She let me take these pics today (not very willingly though). Vet suggested we just monitor her today/tomorrow and if she stops eating, starts having trouble or gets swollen/fever etc... to bring her down.

PS - Those nips on my hands are not from her - she doesn't bit....yet. :grin3
