The squirrels should be about 18 weeks old now. How exactly do I go about the releasing part?

DO you have a yard where you can build a release cage? Most people put them out there for a month in order to acclimate them, and then open the door. They usually come and go for awhile, and then eventually make their own homes.

They are in a cage which can be used for release and we have a big yard. I read about putting cage in a shed, this way the door can be closed and night and cats and such wont be able to scare them.. or is it ok just to place them outside?

We ran an additional barrier of 2x3 welded wire around the release cage area to be sure no cats, coons, etc can get to our releases. They need to be safe for the month or so that they will be out in the release cage.
