Well, her previous diet sounds awful, so that may very well be a big part of the problem with the hair loss. Bad diet can cause fur issues. Since she is used to being spoiled off a diet of a lot of nuts, she may not eat much of the healthy food at first, but hang in there - when she gets hungry enough, she will eat it. Just don't offer her any more nuts or treats until she is eating the healthy foods well.
She sounds like a real sweetie and hopefully with the proper diet, the fur issues will resolve themselves. Is it just the picture, or is the skin on that back spot darker colored?

You can try and crushing up the HHB's and adding a
little peanut butter and water. Just enough to make
everything stick together. Roll into a ball. Maybe she
might like it that way.
Or you can crush up the HHB's and mix with avacodo.
Do the same way.
Good Luck!

The dark spot looks like hair growing back in to me.
My limited experience eye sees old wounds, bites. From a sibling or past cage mate.. or a fight or maybe some sort of attack that led to her being captured?
What history did your friend have on her? how long has she had her? The whole 8 months.

l'm sorry Mommaluvy i didn't get back to you because the person just got back today. No there was no fight. plus she has had her a full 8 months and she didn't get in to fight sibling because Sandy the only angel she has. We were talking about squirrels and how sweet they are and how I have a lot of wilds that come to me when i call to be feed. Some run right up my leg and sit on my lap. They seem to love chestnuts a lot. That when she ask me to take her because she just don't have time for her.l would like to say she is now eating henry blocks mixed with avocado but still no veggies l also give her 50mil of fox valley a day.l still put the veggies in with her . l havent let her or chester out at the same time she is trying to trust me but still dosent she run in to her cage when i go in the room.when should i stop her milk i dont want her to lose any weight cuss she not that fat .l want to weigh her but want her to know she can trust me.when should i let her and chester out at the same time chester is my man and follows me all around my house. Sandy is just in the room.l think chester might give me a rest if he had a friend.lolTHANK YOU ALL :grouphug :Love_Icon

Because the nut meat is so wet, they develop mold quickly - and it WILL kill your squirrel. You cannot tell from the outside of the chestnut there is anything wrong - they look perfect. Squirrels LOVE chestnuts, but you absolutely MUST cut them in half so you can inspect the inside before feeding them. Anything but pure white nutmeat needs to be tossed.

Exactly....and even if the inside looks a bit grainy, with little holes in it, but is still very white? :nono TOSS IT. the only chestnuts safe to feed are ones with a full, solid white inside. No holes, no blue or grey color. VERY important.

Have you had a chance to look at her teeth, she may not be eating because they are too long or miss shaped.

l Haven't seen the warnings about chestnuts??? Can Any one let me know what the warnings were please.
I posted this once before and I'm just reposting so you can see.
Granted they don't all look this bad, but anything other than white meat, TOSS.
The chestnut that is moldy looked perfect from the outside! :shakehead
Just a reminder.
If you are feeding chestnuts to your squirrels,
ALWAYS cut them in half to check for mold.
You cannot tell a bad chestnut from the outside, they
actually look perfect. But as you can see, once you open them,
you can't mistake the moldy ones. :shakehead

Looks like her diet is causing the patches. My baby is VERY picky about her food and is a seasonal eater. She may eat the heck out of avocado one day and turn her nose up for the next 3 weeks. Then she will be on a greens kick. Try looking at what is (or should be) in season right now and offer her those fruits/veggies. Being more in tune with nature than we are, that may be what she is looking for.
