Hi,

I'm concerned that my 6wk old baby squirrel will need a partner in crime in order for his eventual release to be most successful. (I'm aware the boards do not support selling/buying tree squirrels). If anyone near Sarasota could either help me out or give advice on how growing up by himself will affect him, please let me know. I'd be more than willing to take another squirrel in for his sake.

Thanks so much for any help (:

Can you post some more pictures of your little one?
Would you be willing to give him to someone that doesn't want
to part with their's so he has a buddy? Just asking, not sure
there is anyone willing to take on another.
I'm so glad you are thinking of his well being and looking for a buddy.
I know that typically the earlier you can introduce another squirrel, the
better. If they are too much older, it gets difficult as they get set in their ways
pretty fast. :shakehead

As I am studying for my degree in Biology (to potentially become a rehabber) I feel he is not only a huge learning experience for me but also the sunshine of my life (: My father passed two years ago in a car accident and I found Noah on my birthday. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I always consider him a little gift from him. Considering this, while I do care for his well-being, I'd rather raise him myself until I can find him a buddy. I may consider it when things seem a little more bleak, but for now I feel he is in good hands until he finds a partner.

Well it appears that little Noah was definitely meant to be with you.
I'm so sorry to read this about your father,
I can't even imagine how heart breaking this was.
Oh I saw these photos in the nursery thread.
You know when you have squirrels this cute, we need daily
photos. :):Love_Icon
Good luck with your little gift, he is just precious!

LittleNoah, I'll ask around and see if any other singletons come available. I know that several of the local rehabbers are full and will probably be getting more. In Florida, baby season never ends ... it slows a little but they really have babies all year round. I have two pregnant squirrels in my yard now.

Do you have a place to release? Would you need help with release?

That's great, thank you so much! :w00t

As far as releasing, I have a forested backyard and was originally planning on investing in a large outdoor cage for pre-release when he gets older. Now that I think of it, it may be easier to find someone else to help with that, so I'm taking it as I go. I think it would be great to have him and/or his buddy be able to visit while on/near my property.
