Hello all,
I have a 5.5 wk old squirrel we got 13 days ago and with me beginning my new job, and my fisherman husband having to go back out to sea, we are looking for a transitionary home for the little guy.
He is healthy and should be released back to the wild. He has been eating ~7cc every 4 hrs and is still on formula. If you have room and preferably other age-appropriate squirrels he can begin co-mingling with, please let me know!

I do not have any babies that age but I can take him. Most of mine are 9 weeks and up. Let me know :grin2

Thank you! He's not ready quite yet, but do have an outside transitional area for him when he is ready to be released? He is very sweet and quiet :) I appreciate you reaching out!

Also, I assume you are in the Tampa/Clearwater area and in a good spot for release? Our neighbor has too many squirrels and way too many dogs and cars, so I would never release one here.
Sorry for all the questions we just want to make sure he is transitioned in the right home :grin3

I am in Hudson, Pasco County. I have 2 1/2 acres in the woods. I have been rehabbing for 5 yrs. You are welcome to bring baby to me so you can look at my property and cages. There are no "roads" or neighbors, per say, around me so my releases are safe. I am covered under the license of a rehabber and am currently finishing the paper work so I will have my own FWC Rehab license. I have my dogs but they are in the front yard that is fenced so they can not free roam the property and I keep my rehab and personal animals separate for many reasons.

SMCCOLLO had a change of mind and will hold on to the baby. When the time is right and I pray it comes before baby is 6mth, I hope she will contact me again because I will jump in to prepare and release in a safe spot.

Do you have any experience taking in babies that had a fracture?

No, I do not. I saw your thread...I understand she had an open fracture that was treated. If the movement is good I would put into a prerelease cage, watch her and determine if she is releasable or not at that time. Toybox has an awesome set up and would watch her carefully. As long as there is a perm home there if she is not releasable due to physical defect then I would absolutely take that offer:serene. A limp is not an issue but if while in the release cage there is an issue then ...nonrelease.
