You all have read my saga about my visitors. However, it is now 10:37am. It was raining earlier and is now sunny. Still no sign of babies 3 and 4 and I am starting to panic. No sign of them on the ground either. I am starting to get really worried now.

1) I hear no rustling in the attic

2) Do babies sleep in when it's a little wet and them come out later when it gets sunnier?

3) Could I have made the most horrible of mistakes in assuming that the appearance of the babies on the ledge correlated to the dead squirrel on the ground directly beneath my window? Or would the babies come out on the ledge even if they had a mom (I have not seen an adult squirrel on my roof yet).

4) Is it possible that there is a momma and she moved the last 2?

5) They were VERY active as of early evening last night. Could they have passed away up there or both be too sick to move?

6) Could I have scared them away by letting them see me take their brother and sister?

I am at the point where I am going to borrow a huge ladder and "break" into the attic when hubby gets home. We are not supposed to be up there but no sign of these babies at this time of day is really upsetting.

Yes, it is possible that they are sleeping in, many squirrels like to stay
in their nest where it is warm and comfy when the weather is cold.

Thank you so much. I was monitoring the site waiting for an answer. My heart is so invested in this. I'm reading a book and keeping the house quiet today so I can listen for rustlings at the ceiling.

If I don't see them out today, I will try again first thing tomorrow.

Thanks for watching for them, and its possible they went else for their food today.

Day's almost over and I have not seen them nor heard anything in the ceiling. They were the 2 more active ones so I'm thinking they got down to the ground and are somewhere else now. My concern is the neighbor's 3 evil outdoor cats (they're really nice cats but fierce hunters...I've been in tears multiple times over the "presents" they leave us).

I checked with our rehabber about the other two and they are doing fine. I am hoping and praying that my last two babies make it back home to the attic and my ledge sometime soon. And if not, that they are being fed by some caring person and able to keep warm.

Have you gone outside? Look around for them. They sometimes make chirping sounds like car alarms. They get most active around dusk.

I have been through my complex at least 5 times, looking up and down. Checked the road to make sure they weren't hit. Checked all the trees on the hill and nothing. :(

I want to thank everyone for their help and encouragement. We have heard nothing from the attic in over 36 hours and the food on the ledge is still there untouched. They might have gone somewhere else. I will leave some Oxbow and Water on the ledge for now and update if I ever see them again.

What an experience this was. I will never forget those babies...

:grouphugThank you for helping these sweet babies:grouphug

Most people would've ignored them or even called an exterminator:boohoo

By capturing the 2 you could get you did SO much. Because of your compassion, they'll have a fantastic opportunity to grow up to become healthy,
strong, wild squirrels, and play tree-top-tag in the woods some day:squirrel3:squirrel3

Thank you for trying so hard to help these babies.:thankyou

It is possible that the dead squirrel was not the mother. There are always judgments and hard decisions that have to be made. If it helps any, I would have done the same thing you did, I would have intervened too.:hug

If the weather is bad, they may be hunkered down. As Farelli said, listen for high pitched squeeks/whines. Keep looking for them and leave food and water out on their ledge.

Good luck!
