While I'm at my parent's house I have the luxury of having all kinda of wild food around me. I went through this moving and found all kinds of awesome stuff for Abbi and was wondering, can they eat the twigs and leaves and stuff off cedar trees?

Cedar is not recommended for squirrels....... it causes respiratory problems.
Can you get any oak or fruit tree branches with leafs --they will love it.

Good question - i lean toward Rapsodys answer .
I mean cedar shavings are a DEFINITE NO.
Personally i dont know why they still sell that stiff for animals. Those have been known to kill rodents via Respiratory illness.
But a cedar branch.. I dunno. Very good question. I think the enclosure type. Cage verses plastic container. Age of squirrel etc would be the things i would think about . If an older squirrel and in a large aerated cage with one cedar branch .. I might think that would be ok.
Might be encountered in the wild.
But when in doubt..
Will be interested in discussion

We dont even recommend using cedar to make nest box out of because
your squirrels with chew on the wood and poss consume some of it.
