please help

xena is in non life threatening but she is in trouble and I was hoping to get some advise on animal control and causes of seizures.. he life is in danger..

What kind of animal are we talking about here for the animal control?

Seizures can be cause by head trauma, low sugar level, not eating enough or to far apart,
calcium deficiency, and to much activity in small rodents to name a few things.

she is my 5 year old dog.. but I did some research and the only thing different I did with her was a bath.. soo I looked up the shampoo.. and found a lot of bad stuff..
it was the frigging shampoo I bathed her in... OMG what have I done to my baby, and now I cant even get to her to get her to a vet till morning.. excuse my language but what the hell, I read up on the shampoo.. tat was all that was different was a bath this afternoon.. Harts ultra guard flrea and tick shampoo..

I am freeking out here.. I don't know what to do I called them and the machine was on and explained she was poisoned and having seizures from it to please not treat her like a rabid dog.. I would be getting her in the morning.. I am almost to the point of getting in the car and driving the almost hour and beating teir door down.. does anyone know what can counteract this???

Yes, it might have been the shampoo --Hartz is the worse animal product on earth, I do not like it and wish it was not on the shelves. I would wash that stuff off ASAP with some Dawn dish soap. Do you have your dog back now or is she still in animals control hands? I am so sorry this happening? (((hugs)))

they have had her 2 hours now.. I called and left messages but not one call or answer back.. now she is laying in a cold cell with that poison on her and nothing to help her if she goes down again... idid not know my brother uses it and I loved thhe smell of his dogs.. I cant stop crying.. I did this to her..

police was called from all the craziness going on.. dog going nuts, boo boo crying and me feaking out crying. they come out and we could not get into the room with her she was very aggressive foaming and so they thought she had rabies..soo they called animal control. I am sooo sick to my stomach right now.. even when she was here and I caught the seizures and did not know what was going on till after.. she lunged at me and tried to bite me.. she is 80 something lbs.. soo I was scared of her.. she was being very aggressive and foaming from the mouth.. which turned to with in 30 minutes but she growled and barked for over an hour before police came.. I had a window blind opened in the room where she was and could see in and talk to her but she would not calm down like she did not know me.. but when the animal control came and got her in his truck she licked my hand through the bars.. what can I do..

I am so sorry someone felt threatened enough over your dog to call the police and now your little one is sitting in the pound with no way to wash that awful stuff off her. Hand in there and hopeful you will be able to see her tomorrow and set things straight. Just please, never use the brand name Hartz again. (((hugs)))

I also washed zoey in it.. but she is ok I used very little on her 4 days ago.. but xena is a big dog.. I did not know and now she is paying for it... my heart is tearing out my chest and tears are flowing I cant stop.. I have had her since 6 wks old she is now 5 yrs..

ok soo I called the police and yesssssss 911 and told them they were at my house and what happened.. soo they had them call me back and I explain she does not have rabies.. she had been poisoned. he said no one is there tonight but for me to be there first thing and I have to pay a 25 dollar reclaiming fee and they would let me bathe her right there in there tub.. but they don't open till 9 am.. I will be there at 730 just incase they come in early.. pray for my baby I did not kill her I will never forgive myself if she dies.. I did not know it was dangerous I bought it for 5.99... because it smelled good and my brother uses it.. please pray hard for her

I pray that Xena will recover and be returned to you safely. I would drive down there; Animal Control agencies are notoriously untrustworthy, especially with large dogs.

Hartz Mountain is THE WORST CRAP EVER MADE and it KILLS PETS.
Never ever use anything made by them!
Their reputation is so horrible they now have a new label they market things by so unsuspecting people start buying their garbage again -- Village something-or-other. Red logo. It's still Hartz and it's still deadly.,

I am sorry I am late getting back to u all prayers worked and the animal control was soo nice to me this morning. Even front desk ladies watched boo boo so I could bathe her with blue dawn dish soap and that is what I will use frome now on. Xena did well this morning and the released her back to me. She was soo happy to see me. And I am so confident she has recovered I took her to the park with us and she was as gracious as ever following all commands and no craziness. She Is my heart. She is now safely back home with me and don't want to leave my side. Thank you all for the prayers love u all..

I am NOTbeing conceded when I say I know, lol if u have seen her puppy pics u would see the instant onection I had with her.. lillidukes ssent me a pic and I fell in deep love with her and then I I had to talk terri into thinking that it would be her dog, lol I know I am bad.. but at the very moment lillidukes came and put her in my arms we were bonded. She is very smart and well mannered and easy to train, the first wk I had her she was house trained and following basic comands in the first month she was doing tricks.. and never ever has she put her teeth on me or growled at me not even in play. So when she came at me agresively I was sscared did not know what was happening. So I was crying boo was crying the dog was out of her mind barking and growling loudly, guess the neibors heard all the comotion and it late at night calld cops.. but our animal control quarantines for a period of time before uthanizing. They are very nice. Just have to do their jobs they were called out to do. But she is doing grezt now and glad to be home. And ohh my soo am I. She tinks she was ment to be a lap dog too.. and she dont know she wont fit,, lol she is bigger than me soo it is funny.. and she is zoeys protector and best bud.

just an update.. zena is doing great and still able to stay indoors.. :dance I was soo scared but she has had no more seizures and is great..

I'm so happy she is ok! That is horrifying! It wasn't your fault - it's the fault of the unscrupulous companies that make crap products for animals. There are so many bad products out there that it's very difficult to tell what is bad or good. I'm happy I read this - we will be getting a dog soon, and now I am warned away from using Hartz. Thank you.

What a happy ending to a horrific situation. :grouphug Glad AC was a good one to deal with too. Just hit my bathroom and threw out anything by Hartz. I usually just bathe LilMan in Dawn anyway due to these dang fleas which have seem to become immune to all the drops.

Thank God. You got her back. I was afraid also they would kill her based on symptoms.

Side note.. Our cat ran off for a month during the polar vortexes last winter. Long story short we found her in the nick of time 1/4 mile from our house.

She was down to 4 pounds. Drove through a blizarred to get her to the vet the next am. They took her in back and checked her out.. Came back to me with FRONTLINE on her neck. Said they had treated her for parasites... Did not ask me .. . Ok no biggy right..

She had frostbite on her ears and no other marks.

4 days later .... Her hair stared falling out she got lethargic etc a wound appeared in a straight line right where the med gets applied. Vet blamed it on everything but the frontline. Must have been from a fight... Yeah ok.. It's a inch and a half oozing gash in a straight line exactly where they put the medicine... Took weeks .. For it to go away.

Label clearly stated not to use in compromised or dilapidated cats. I dunno.. I don't have my DVM cert. but a cat that weighs four pounds .. That had weighed 8 .. That has been trapped outdoors or in someone's shed for a month in below freezing temps... That was dehydrated and starved... Showed no evidence of fleas...
Does it take a DR to see that animal was compromised ! Made me so mad.


Last thing in the world I would have asked for was flea treatment.. Ad even then if we have to use it I try to use something my kids won't get absorbed into their skin..

I hate how people in authority do things with out your full consent. Glad you got her back.
