Will SMZ TMP treat Giardia? If so need dosage for 209.3 gram squirrel

I believe it will but I am not 100% sure because I use metro typically. We would need the strength of the pill or solution to accurately dose it.

SMZ-TMP is for coccidia, and I don't believe it will do anything to giardia.

Metronidazole is the most common med for giardia. It is a prescription drug but it sold in some aquarium stores under the name "Fish Zole" and it is the same drug.

Why do you suspect giardia specifically?

I do not see it listed as treatment. Flagyl aka metro is what I think is used most often. Is there any chance you can get hold of some?

Because of the smell of her runs, the green color of it and I spoke with a vet and based on symptoms they say giardia too

No. They don't treat squirrels and wont prescibe without seeing animal.

Yes, the panacur should work. Lots of vets are prescribing it for dogs now because metro can make them aggressive. Panacur is OTC. The real name of the drug is Fenbendazole - Panacur is a brand name. I would look at Tractor Supply for this.

I would go with this one . I thought they made one that treated 10 pound animals though I did not see it listed. If you can get the one for ten pound animals that may be better or easier to dose ?? Anyone?
Should she use both just incase it's coccidia ? They both smell.. But from what I read here on diarrhea threads .. One smells like death and the other smells sickly sweet. Someone else said coccidia smelled like the wrath of God and Giardia WAS the wrath of God :p

I was curious .. My 4 pooped every color of the rainbow except purple . We had green with white curds/ white curds like cottage cheese /something that was nearly bluegreen, red .orange slime . And so many textures ( insert insane laughter) I just hope I never go through this again bit I am sure I will.

Fenbenz was my next option if what I used had not worked. So .. Won't hurt to try it . Esp if we are all wrong and it's hook worm ! Someone else herelennys mom maybe .. Had a test come back as worms ! And had similar symptoms as our guys.
