OK everyone,

I previously saved a squirrel that was 3 days old and she now hit 7 weeks. As she got older we noticed that she had 2 deformed legs (must have broken from a neo-natal fall); sadly this quashed all plans for us to re-release her into the wild as it would be a death sentence. So we have decided to try and keep her. I am looking for a cage that I will be placing her in once she is fully weaned and doesnt run the risk of falling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
These are some options we are considering

The last one - the Critter Nation - is the one you want as far as ready made cages are concerned. They have 1/2" bar spacing which prevents little legs from falling through the bars and getting broken, and they are horizontal bars as well, which are easier to climb. You do not need to add the center "floor" unless you want to - you can build it as an open cage without the two levels. They make a piece that you can stack on top that makes it almost 8 feet tall, and with a little home engineering, you can purchase two and assemble them as one cage by removing one full side. So they are very adaptable.

They are so popular that you can purchase ready made pan covers and ramp covers for them if you wish.

I second the recommendation by CritterMom for the CritterNation. It is an excellent cage; very sturdy.
