Hello all,
I now have 3 baby squirrels. I haven't raised any in Years ..But, love these little fur balls.
We got them a 6ft high cage and put in a tree limb.........they love it.
They were very socialized when we got them.

Hi Devita,

That is a beautiful squirrel and a fantastic picture. I am not the greatest photographer so I really appreciate those that are.

I am a huge fan of TN, by the way. Someone on here (whose thread "Pat the Outdoor Squirrel" I follow because he takes such perfect picture shots of his locals) told me about the elephant sanctuary you have in your state. Elephants were my first love, and I am in awe that there even exists such a place. Hats off to the people running it, that is for sure!

Milk? Like cow milk? If so, that's really bad. Peanuts and SF seeds are also very bad. What kind of rodent blocks? We find that diet is the thing that most people get wrong and is also the cause of most problems down the line.

You should be feeding Esbilac puppy powder with probiotics or Fox Valley:

243003

And for blocks, we recommend Henry's Health Blocks (http://www.henryspets.com/squirrel-diet/) as the gold standard, but Oxbow and Harlan Teklad would be good too. Some blocks are pressed seeds and corn, so be wary.

We recommend that they only get blocks and formula until they are eating their blocks consistently, then get veggies, then fruit and nuts as treats. Giving them other stuff before they love their blocks makes getting them to always eat their blocks as an adult hard.

Here is the healthy diet guide for adults:

http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?44440-Healthy-Diet-for-Pet-Squirrels

You'll notice that some foods are on the avoid list. Most nuts have a high phosphorous content, which blocks calcium absorption, which causes a life threatening condition known as MBD.

Hi Devita,

I agree, your photos are beautiful :Love_Icon Seems like all I can get are vaguely squirrel shaped blurs :tramp
I mentioned 'local resources' in a previous post, and I should have been much clearer. Topmost in my mind is finding squirrel friendly vet(s). I really hope we never need their services, but I'd rather know ahead of time, just in case...
We live west of Knoxville, but I don't mind travelling, especially when it comes to something like taking care of our little squirrly friends!

Very cute! Don't get discouraged if you're not getting a lot of responses. Everyone is super busy this baby season and there's little time for anything. It should calm down in a few weeks.
