I was just contacted on the Auntie MM's FB page by a guy in Portland Oregon that has a 3-5 week old squirrel and he is trying to get it to a rehabber.

Maybe 3-5 weeks old he said. Gathering more info now through e-mail.

If anyone is in the area or knows who is in the area, please tell me so I am able to PM the contact info.

EDIT: This is what he said to me in an email.

I'm in Portland Oregon. We've bought a new cat carrier (the plastic type with vents) and have lined the it with soft towels so he can keep warm and burrow in them. He's just a little baby. I'm guessing he's between 3-5 weeks old from pictures I've been looking at on the internet. Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I'm at a loss for who to contact for something like this. Unfortunately my family doesn't have the means to take something like this on, but I can't stand the thought of not helping an animal in need.

Does anyone know how to reach Duckman?

I sent Duckman a PM. But if someone can send him a text or call him I'd really appreciate it.

How about Jackie at Squirrel Refuge? Is she in the Portland area?

What is going on in Portland?! Wow.
I know Squirrelsareme is farther from Portland - but she did say recently she'd help if needed. I know Duckman is very busy with a ton of babies - maybe contacting SAM just in case? Spread the love? :dono

It looks like this guy is not very far from SquirrelRefuge. I am going to give him the number, but let's keep looking just in case they are at capacity.

Sent you a PM. That's where Duckman said to call. Check your PM for a private contact number

I may have another number for you Milos Mom.
I'm waiting for a call back from the gal who took the babies from my plea for help of yesterday.
Those 2 found help in Vancouver which apparently isn't too far from Portland.

Just spoke to Duckman (Thank you very much Skippy). Passed along Duckman's info to the finder and instructed him to call ASAP.

The finder said he's about 5 minutes from Vancouver, and he lived there for 21 years, so hopefully this will all go smoothly.

I just sent you a pm with contact information to a rehabber in Portland.

Got it thank you.

Shall I send all of the additional names and numbers to the finder or just let him contact Duckman (if he hasn't already)?

The finder spoke with Duckman and will be dropping little Bojack (the squirrels name) off in about an hour.

Thank you everyone for all of your help and fast responses!! :bowdown :grouphug

Hi, folks. I, too, found a young squirrel near Portland (we had an unusual summer windstorm). Started a thread here regarding his care (link below), but I'd be grateful for the contact info for rehabbers you shared by PM with the original poster!
Thanks,
Scoobey

I have this one in my hands now. He has a severely broken back leg. It is mangled and I am positive he will lose it. I was able to get him to eat a little bit, and was able to get some pain meds into him. He is just adorable!! :Love_Icon:Love_Icon

Duckman, thank you so much for helping this little one.:grouphug

I had no idea about his leg. Not that it would have made a difference in seeking help, just didn't want you to think I conveniently forgot to mention it.

They never mentioned the leg until he was here. I don't blame them though, as I am sure they thought people would have refused to take him with it broken. They just didn't know me! :grin3

Sadly this little guy started crashing this evening, and I held him as he took his final breath. There was a lot more going on with him than I suspected at first. He started to go blind in one eye last night, and this evening, it appeared something ruptured in his abdomen. 30 minutes later he was gone. God speed little guy. Know no more pain. :sad

Losing them is hard but I'm always grateful that I was blessed with their care in the end. I get to pamper them, talk with them, love them and help them until they are taken back to the other side. Then I bury their body's with dignity and love on my property. :Love_Icon
