My gray squirrel, Jeffrey is just a year old. He eats 2 HHBs a day plus avocado, sweet potato, peas, apple, & blueberries & ocassional peanut or almond. He's fairly picky and doesn't like any leafy greens. He has always had a wispy tail and I thought maybe it was from getting bashed around in his smaller cage. I now have a large cage and thought I would see some improvement but have not. I will try to post a pic but he moves so fast. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want him to have a beautiful bushy tail.

Pics of him and his cage would really help.

Does he do a lot a laying around in his nest box or comfy cube? --I ask as my Marven who is 3.5 years and is a nr squirrel is the same way and his tail is not as fluffy as it once was. I think this is because he spends so much time in his cage and has become soooooo lazy over the years...... and yes, his cage is big and he gets plenty of time out for play, but he just prefers the lazy life style of being a kept squirrel.

This is his new cage. I bought this in June for him (hope I did this right). I clean it 2-3 times a week because he's a piggy! LOL I'll try to get a pic of his tail. He hardly stays still when he's out. Thank you!

Here is what his tail looks like. Its the underside mostly that looks thin.

The cage is nice, but it could be better if the middle section can be removed and branches places in the cage to allow the squirrel more room to romp and play in as he jumps around like all wild squirrels do in their daily activities. Can you get a few pics of the tail from a distance? --I would like to see it in its fullness and how it straightens up when he walks around. Thanks.
