View Full Version : Need Someone in MD to Take 2 Baby Squirrels

Squirrel built nest on guy up the street porch in a storage area, and there was at least 3 babies, and he wanted them out of there ASAP. I caught two, don't know where the third went or if there might be more behind the wall. Gave the guy my number if he sees the third one, or more.
I need someone in Maryland to take these off my hands. I have Goat milk and whipping cream, but only 10cc syringes. Have them in cage with micro fiber towels and most of the nest material.
The squirrels are small, but have all their fur, and can run fast. LOL

Mission Accomplished. So good that I know someone that can handle a squirrel I might run across, and we have established a meeting place. Hope he's able to post a few photos once he gets them settled in.

:thankyou Mike for coming to the rescue for these babies. I understand the circumstance was not ideal and feel so bad for them they had to be separated from mom. Maybe mom took off with the third suspected one but if not I'm on stand by for that one or any other's also.
I can't help but wonder with the difference between these two since you said squirrels ran everywhere if there was more then one litter out there and maybe I got one from each?? :thinking
I got the girls checked over, weighed, fed what they would eat and bedded down. Neither ate well only taking between 4 & 5 cc's but they are both very frightened and need time to settle down. I'm placing them between 6-7 weeks old
The bigger girl @ 169 grams just screamed her little heart out at being handled. She didn't fight, just screamed. She looks so scared and sad. :(
The smaller reddish girl (Soooo pretty!) @ 97 grams is full of spit and vinegar! She is a fighter and a serious biter! She will lunge and bite down on whatever she can connect with and she will stay latched on for a good while too! She screams and growls and will charge at the cage door. I already know sooner or later that one is going to draw blood. :help

Great save (both the original finder and Step).
TSB should make up some Squirrel Purple Heart badges to place next to screen names and avatars for those who rescue and get bit. I know Step would have several Purple Hearts at least!:tilt
Out of respect for those who truly earned Purple Hearts, we could call them Crimson Hearts or something like that.
