Is this a poplar branch? (The thin limb in the foreground, not the thick tree trunk in the background)
I think it is but need to know for sure.
Ate those buds safe for sqs?

I just googled it and yes they are safe they call the buds tulip buds or blossoms

My squirrels prefer to eat the tinier buds *just* popping out of the branch and don't usually eat the bigger ones like in the pic if they have a choice.
So I'm assuming the younger the bud, the tastier... :dono

that's what i observed, too. Something about the leaf stems.
No matter what the tree - leaf stems seem to be "it":)
