I just found a baby squirrel (can't tell the age, looks like this one: http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=242015&d=1409432940) hiding under a tree and making threatening sounds when someone approaches. It looks weak and helpless and barely walks, not to speak of climbing the tree. We have lots of stray cats in the area and I also own one, so I can't take the baby home (also he won't allow me to touch him). I'm afraid it will be eaten by a cat or dies soon if I do nothing to help. Do you have any suggestions?

Are you with him right now? He needs to be brought in - is there a place you can put him in a container/box where he would be safe from your cat until you can get him to a rehabber?
Keep checking back, we'll try to find someone in the area who can help. :thumbsup
EDIT: I've PMd someone who might be able to help or direct you to a rehabber in the area.

Just brought out some water for the baby. He's still hiding in the same place. I rent a studio here and don't have a place where the cat wouldn't reach him (

Ok, he needs to be safe. Could you get some type of container - like a cat carrier - Put some old cut up t-shirts or flannel or fleece in it for him to burrow in, and then scoop him up and put him right in? Do you have a car? You could put the carrier in your car or even in your bathroom until you can get him to a rehabber. Or, if nothing else, keep him in the container with lots of warm fleece etc. and watch him until we can find help...
If you think he won't be safe enough while you go to get a container etc. I'd just wait right there until a rehabber is found or someone else can bring you a container... :dono

I'm supposed to watch the baby for a while, there is a possibility that momma-squirrel will get him back.

Oh, ok. For some reason I got the impression this squirrel was hurt in some way. I guess he's just a baby who got out and is waiting for mama to take him back to the nest? :thinking
Hopefully mama returns! Thanks for waiting with him.

The baby was picked up by a rehabber! I guarded him and saw he was drinking the water so I guess he will be allright.
Thank you all for your support and kindness :thumbsup

Thank you for caring, Donna! :grouphug
And Good Luck, Baby Squirrel... try not to bite the nice rehabber (too often) and grow up big and strong so you can get back to your trees, ok? :Love_Icon
