View Full Version : Front paw injured
Peetie my girl squirrel has injured her front paw...i think she could have got it hung in something or fell . She is still walking and able to get around but she keeps weight off it and cries when i touch it. I have her in her small cage in her box so she will not be clibing around or doing anything to cause it more damage or to get more sore. I read to give ibuproprin but have no clue what amount to give her to maybe help her with the pain. I am keeping close tabs on her so anything you could suggest would help. Thank you so much.

Hi Adi, the medicine is infant ibuprofen. It comes in a cherry flavor that squirrels seem to like. I am responding on a mobile device and don't know how to paste the dosing chart. How much does your squirrel weigh? I know the dosage for a 400 gram squirrel is .1cc. To be clear that is point 1 cc. I think you can give it every 4 hours as needed. Hope this helps. Maybe someone can post the dosing chart. Good luck! :)

Typically we don't like to post any doses on board, the chart included.
You have NO idea how many people get the amounts WRONG, so we like
to do so in pm's spelled out clearly, along with a link to the dosing syringe.
Can you post a picture of your little squirrel, and also tell us the age?
I will dose this according to the weight.
You have to use INFANT ibuprophen. :thumbsup
She weighs around 500 grams...She will be two years old next month. it was hard to get exact weight b/c she did not like being put on the scale. but that is very close to it. if you need to pm me that is fine too.... i will get the kind you have suggested. She seems to be using it a little bit more today but i am keeping her low and her food close to avoid her injuing it more in her small cage. She is normally out a lot in the day in a big cage where she climbs around and plays but for now gonna keep her settled down as much as possible to allow it to heal. thanks for any advice or help..appreciate it...and Thank you from Peetie too
the photo is of her holding her paw up the one that is hurting...

I will pm you the dosing chart for infant ibuprophen.
Read it carefully and get the dose correct. Any questions,
just pm me. I think you are right about the weight,
she probably is right around 500 grams.
You are smart to confine her movements. I know
she will be just fine with a little rest. :grin2
She's a cutie! :Love_Icon
