This week cannot be over soon enough...:shakehead
One of Miracle's Boys has a freaking swollen toe. I think there is/was a piece of thread around it or something. I used tweezers and got a piece off of it, but I can't see it to see if it is all gone. What the hell should I do?!!!

I've seen this happen before Gayle, not sure of the outcome........I will try to search after I feed.
This has NOT been your week.
I hope the shower was fun for you though. :grouphug

Maybe a little cold compress on it might take some of the swelling down enough to see if you got it all.
Girl you have had a rough week! :grouphug Going to feed now but I will check back before I hit the sack.

I have tried repeatedly to get something off of the toe. I simply can't get it without hurting him. I have to go to sleep. This has been an absolutely horrible week and I hope to God that this is not going to kill this baby. I will see about going to the emergency vet tomorrow, but as far as I know they do not treat wildlife other than to pts. I am really not doing much good these days. These babies are NEVER in anything except fleece which does not have strings. WTH is going on here?!!!:eek
He screams when I try to deal with it and I just can't hurt him any more tonight. :shakehead

Give him some ibuprophen to help, that has to be painful.
Get a magnifying glass too. It could be a hair wrapped around it the toe, if you are seeing something.
On my fleece, since I use cut up blankets, they always have that hem, and I have to watch it
after I launder them that there are no little strings.
UGH, you poor kid. :Love_Icon:Love_Icon:Love_Icon

I agree it could be a hair. I have very long hair and even though I wash the squirrels stuff separate from our clothing it's still amazing how my hair finds it's way onto the fleece. It's almost like velcro.
Hope the little one is feeling better this morning.

I am almost sure it is my hair. I just can't get it off! I have an emergency vet who I can go beg to help, but they really don't do wildlife...:shakehead I am so afraid to go to them!
Would you guys go to the er or would you wait until tomorrow to see the regular vet?

Do you have or can you get your hands on an x-acto knife? You will want to use an emery board or nail file to blunt the edge and tip - they are razor sharp but you can get it to where the tip and edge won't cut without a lot of pressure with a file - but the tip is still REALLY thin, so if you can have someone else hold him, all you have to do is get the very tip of it under the hair and you will be able to cut/break it. You could do the same thing with a sewing needle that you blunt the end of (or use a ball point needle). If it is a hair you just have to get something under it and you can break it... A magnifying glass would be very helpful, too.

Hope you are able to get it off soon. If it's any consolation we found a kitten once with fishing line around it's paw. It was swollen quadruple what it should have been. We removed the line and massaged the paw on the ride home from our rental house. the kitten ended up being a 25 pound cat named Merlin. He looked like a Maine coon cat and was a wonderful addition to the family with no long term effects from his injury.

I know how you feel. I hate not being able to see things up close like I used to. Hope you get a good report at the vet's today.
