A friend of mine found a little one cold and shivering being bothered by flies.
He's a mailman and has 2 hours left delivering mail.
he's got it in a cardboard box trying to keep it warm..
anyone around to pick it up?

Tell your friend to look on line for Rhode Island Wildlife Rehabilitators, to see what's close to her.
We have no active members in Rhode Island. :shakehead
Tell her to keep him in a warm, dark, quiet place, NOT hot and not cardboard.
Let us know how this works out. :grouphug

Oh no, he called them first, but they are closed until Monday
all he has in his postal truck is a spare letter cardboard box..
he's got about an hour left now at this point, then will be home..

Hi, just found this post now while looking for something else.
My profile doesn't have my true city, but I live in Rhode Island, and am available for future emergencies like this.
whatever happened to this baby? did he wind up at the wildlife rehabilitators?

I will keep you in mind for future finds!
A few of us gave him info for keeping her warm and hydrated and I gave feeding info for a 5 week old to do for the weekend. That Monday he gave her to the wildlife center who said she was between 4-5 weeks and overall looked very good. She had some maggot eggs on her but that was all. She was then transferred to someone in Jamestown to be rehabbed with other squirrel babies :) :Love_Icon
This was her the first night.

so glad to hear she was found and rescued in time. :serene
yes, any future baby squirrel finds in RI, just PM me. I'm glad that the clinic was able to take her.
FYI, WRARI isn't all that big and they have limited resources, so during the baby squirrel seasons in RI, if one comes through who seems "neuro" for example, there won't be much time spent trying to save that baby~~ most likely they will euthanize instead. :boohoo they have their hands full just trying to formula feed the dozens and dozens and dozens of baby squirrels that go through their clinic every spring and late summer.
