I have discovered that all but 1 of my current babies have a weird poop. It is like tiny nuggets, suspended in completely clear mucus. The color of the nuggets is cream, like if I was overfeeding (which I am pretty sure I am not) and there is no smell to the poops (yes, I smelled their poops!). Has anyone ever experienced this and should I be concerned? I will try to get pictures and post them next feeding. :dono

What formula are you using?! I ask because mine are having similar issues. I just opened and finished esbilac with pro. ( 4 bigs squirrels drink a lot) I have - 4/5 of my pinkies have something similar to what your discribing. Mines poops are sickly sweet smell but not an obnoxious odor.
One by one they have been getting it.

I noticed when my pinkies first started out on Esbilac w/ Prob. they all had tiny little nugget size poops, but as they grew and developed their poops became bigger and formed one big poop over time..... but none of them ever had any mucus around the nuggets.

It's funny that you mention that. We are trying the 50% Esbilac and 50% FV on this bunch. That is the only thing different about these little ones. I will watch it. I also just gave them a little bit of Pedilyte with Acidopholus added to see if I can firm up their poops a bit.
Edit - I missed your question mommyluv, before I posted. My babies are 2-3 weeks old right now.

at 2-3 wks old just give the espilac nothing added but some yogurt.. do 75 formula to 25 water for a day then to full strength.. give it a few days to a week to clear up and do not add anything else til the eyes open then ad a dash of heavy whipping cream if you think they need to have some fat, in other words if they are skinnier than need be..lol

Any change ?
My boy was better today. Having backed off the fat for 24 hours.
The girls was worse. So backing them all off today.
2 were softer than should be but formed and hardish
And tiny was still normal .
Was curious how yours were doing today.

Their poops are starting to turn green like yours. I am going to stop mixing and am going back to the 32/40 FV (I know, but I have already had nothing but good luck with the FV). They are starting to show signs of Dehydration as well, so have started giving them water in between feedings.

My. One girl and one boy have gotten worse now. The boy had good poops this am am now its neon yellow. The girls was just pure clear mucus....
The other three are getting better all the time. Well the one never changed .
I am at a loss. I just widh I could see improvement, we still had weight gain yesterday.
My two sickest appear possibly bloated. But bellys are soft.

Did you transition yet? Any change?
I think I may try that . I just hate having two formulas on the house! My big ones and 2/6 of my littles are fine on the esbilac.
Ironically the 2 cans I bought with the probiotics have cause me the problems.

I transitioned to straight FV 32/40 last night and was able to get 2 feedings in before bedtime. This morning, I have gotten in another 2 feedings, and yes, they are starting to harden up. I still have one who is still pooping very white pasty poops, but hopefully he will start doing better as well. I strongly suggest going to one or the other, as early returns indicate that this is the problem.

This really makes me wonder about the esbilac cause mine have been off the FV for days. I'll go from 50/50 to straight FV for the next 2 feeds and tomorrow and see what happens. I had already started moving the two that were sick the longest over.
And then if that works I'll move the others and order some. I should be able to get some to ride me over if I run out. Or maybe I'll just order some tonight .
I have wracked my brain. And yes a syringe could have gotten dirty . Things are hectic here with 5 kids -4 with various food allergies and 9 squirrels . But I just think the others would be sick too. And.. Vise versa -- why do two littles have normal poops. I will not look a healthy poop in the mouth so to say.

The one guy that still had Diarrhea has finally turned the corner. He is now nothing but skin and bones and Jackie was going to put him down on Sunday, but I asked for one more day, switched him to the FV 20/50 and he has put on 4 grams!! (he is only 34 grams though, for a 4 week old squirrel) :eek His poops are much more solid, although they do have a ways to go. The little girl now looks like a squirrel, instead of skin and bones too. She is weighing in at 43 grams. Everyone else shook off the poops, and have gone off to other volunteers, now that they are stable (I am used mainly for the ones who need special care or stabilization). I will try to get some pictures of the poor little boy, when I can.
