A friend of mine is in Fort Leavenworth, KS and found a baby squirrel (not flyer) laying on the ground at a golf course. He said the squirrel is about the size of his hand, and stays curled in a fetal position. He doesn't seem to be hurt, has fur, and opens his eyes. My friend picked him up, wrapped him in a towel, and took him. I told him to get him water, some heavy cream, applesauce and a sweet potato. (I panicked). Since he's staying at a hotel, he doesn't have amenities, and is hoping someone is close to meet him that has more experience. Can anyone help me, or tell me what to tell him to do? I will post a picture once he sends one to me. Thanks!

Hang on... Not sure if we have anyone in the area, but I will look. Please tell him not to give any of the things that you listed though. Perhaps water, but only after he is really warmed up like with a heating pad n low under his container. A pic would work wonders for us guessing age.

That's going to be difficult at a hotel. The first thing he needs to do is warm him slowly. Maybe hot water in a ziplock bag wrapped in a tee shirt. Just a thought. :dono Then he needs to hydrate. Can he go to a pharmacy and get Pedialyte and a 1cc syringe. This will cover him till morning and then maybe he can find a rehabber.

Ok I asked him to, I think he's driving though. Heating pad may be hard though since he's out of town.

He could buy some rice and one of his socks :tilt to make a rice buddy. I'm sure the hotel has a microwave.

Oh My Goodness! Adorable! It looks like he's sucking his thumb. Wait a minute, they don't have thumbs. :tilt
Yep, warmth and hydration for tonight.
The homemade hydration recipe: 3 Tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt mixed in 1 quart of warm water.
I see you have sugar. :grin2

Heard back from one member and they are not able to get there tonight. They are not sure about tomorrow, but I think they just got home from a long trip and will likely not be able to help.
I will let you know if I hear from the other person I emailed.

If he is driving tomorrow, what direction is he going? Maybe we can find someone along the route.

This is an organization that someone in KS found. They are NOT familiar with them and therefore you would need to look into them a bit before handing over this adorable baby.

That is a darling little foxer! Oh, I hope he can go to the drugstore and pick up the pedilyte, syringe and heating pad.
That little guy is absolutely adorable.
Positive energy and prayers going his way.

He doesn't come back until Friday. He has school half day today so he could meet someone later on. I haven't heard how he's doing this morning.

Update: they both did well all night. He named him Rocky. He called the Owl people and and is taking him to them today. He said they seemed legit and would release Rocky once he was better. Thanks for all your help, and he thanks you too!
