Hello, I have a quick question about the Healthy Squirrel Diet for my Eastern Gray. There are 4 items that I've seen on the list that are on "do not feed raw" lists for rats (since squirrels are rodents). I'm trying to weed out the differences between proper squirrel/rat diet.

Here is one location I've seen the list: http://www.squidoo.com/what-not-to-feed-your-rat (My son would argue that anything posted on the Internet is true.)

Is it okay to feed the following veggies raw (and I know some should be in moderation)? Or must I cook them first? I've never seen a squirrel with veggies roasting over camp fire, so I know I might be asking a strange question.

Raw Sweet Potato

Raw Red Cabbage

Raw Brussels Sprouts

Raw Artichokes

Raw Corn (I saw this in a different post than the one above--I know it shouldn't be dried)

I have actually fed Nutso ALL of these at one time or another over the last few months (and she is quite happy/healthy), but I'll start cooking them immediately if I need to.

Thanks!

Raw is fine. Minimal corn. If my guys suddenly decide they don't like them any longer, I nuke them for a couple seconds. Heating them up a it tends to bring out some flavor.

So technically, the answer to your question is both or either. (cept for the corn, I think. When I feed corn it is always fresh and raw and if they are lucky they get a very small slice one a month...if they are lucky)

Perfect. :thankyou I give her fresh corn more often than once a month. Clearly, I need to cut back on that!!!
