I have a flying-squirrel, semi-wild (not well bonded yet). She's very skitish, and bites once disturbed. She's a rehabilitated squirrel from our house, too tame to be released into the wild, too wild to handle but can be touched with great care. I noticed a few moments ago that her tail is bleeding, it's very light, it's as though she pulled a few hairs from her tail. I'm not sure what to do, and we're nowhere near a vet for her.
I'm not positive this is life-threatening, but I didn't want to take a chance if this is. Could I put corn-starch on the wound? I'll post a picture in a few minutes if I can get one... (It's the same sort of blood you would get if you were to cut a cat or bird claw too close, and you receive the blood from the quick.) I can't tell if it's still bleeding either.
Will attempt to take photos now.
