PLEASE ****TEXAS AREA MEMBERS**** , The Skuls Need HELP!

IS there ANYONE in the Houston area or beyond who could take some flyers for MrsSkul (Christal) and Skul, ASAP?

Mark (Skul) is very ill and in the ICU in San Antonio. His prognosis is uncertain and will involve several surgeries among other procedures. Christal (MrsSkul), who is not well herself by any means, must stay with him. A neighbor is feeding their flyers but only 'just'..... they need to go to someone with the time to properly care for them! Christal had a home lined up for them which fell through abruptly this morning, so we are back to square one.

Please, Please, if you can take them from her even temporarily, speak up! Christal herself and the TSB Fund will help with travel expenses, etc etc. so money should not be an issue here. We just want these precious little ones to be in a safe place where they will be properly cared for. Christal has enough to do worrying about Mark being so ill without thinking that her flyers are neglected and dying in their cages.

Please, If there is anything I can do to help please let me know!!! I am on vacation until 6/9/14. I will do anything that is needed to help the Skuls. I can travel ... in the next two weeks if needed. My plans are to attend the White Squirrel Festival in Brevard NC this weekend so if pickups are needed I can help. I can also help financially.

If long term or short term care is needed for some of Skul's babies, I can provide it. The Skuls have helped me in the past and now I want to help them.

This makes my heart SO HAPPY! I had a long conversation with IR yesterday about this situation, and if I wasn't about to have my baby within the next few weeks I would have driven them to their destination originally planned.. or even taken a few myself! My MAIN question is, I have no clue about flyers. Granted I also had no clue when I found Monster at 1 day old & I saved him! I've had sugar gliders in the past, 6 at one point. I am very much a newbie here & to flyers in general but have learned so much already & a lot if if from Mr Skul's posts & comments.
It does my heart good to see all these people come together to help others out in such a time of need. I know already, just from my 2 1/2 weeks with my flyers, that raising them is not necessarily easy & it takes quite a commitment, but it is so very rewarding. I do not personally know anybody on this forum & have never even spoke to any of them on the phone but I know this much, if I was ever in need of help that concerned my flyers, thsthrlp is only a few key strokes away. And I can't tell you how much comfort there is in knowing that. This Is truly a special place full of special people and I'm praying specifically for everyone involved. Thank you for showing that there are still loving, compassionate people who honestly care about others & about these adorable little ones that we get the privilege of caring for.

Pappy, they would like to keep a few but because Mrs. Skul has health problems herself and Skul will take a long time to recover, they need to fully rehome the majority of their squirrels.

The update is that Skul is still in critical condition but there is hope that he will recover. All we can do is hope and think positive thoughts. Mrs. Skul is handling this all remarkably well and is grateful for all of the support from her TSB friends.

So many offers to help...does my heart good to see! But it doesn't surprise me at all here on TSB. This is just what you people do...and it humbles me. The two girls I will be picking up, I have been told do not have names yet. So I have been thinking... I know things can change after meeting them, but... I just thought since they are still unnamed, perhaps a tribute to the Skuls. I was thinking of Magic for one (to honor Mark, as in Magic Marker). Nicknames could be Maggie or Mags. And for the other I thought of Mikasa (to honor Christal as they make beautiful crystal pieces). A nickname could be Miki. They could be know together as the M&Ms. Belleek (Bella or Belle) also makes gorgeous crystal too, but that doesn't start with M. I'm just sitting here thinking (which I do regularly late at night), and worrying about these innocent sweet furbabies. I just pray that Mr. Skul recovers as quickly as possible, and that we can take care of all the needs of the furbabies with as little stress on Mrs. Skul as is humanly possible. :Love_IconSkuls:Love_Icon

Skul says "Hi" everyone and "thank you for the well wishes." He is slowly improving and they are trying to figure out a way to move him from San Antonio to Houston but it probably won't happen right away.

Mrs Skul's being in San Antonio has further complicated getting her squirrels to their new homes and I am having trouble finding drivers to get from Houston to Kentucky. If anyone knows anyone along that route, through Northeast Texas and Arkansas, please PM me. We can even pay them to do part of the driving. :thankyou

If all the llittle guys haven't been cared for and you know of a train heading towards Jacksonville Fl we have two empty critter nations and a very large outdoor cage with a few flyers in it now. :wave123 everyone! I heard from the Skuls. Skul is doing better though he has a long way to go still. When he collapsed from the blood clot he injured his spine and he's going to be partially paralyzed for about a year. He is still in the hospital dealing with some other stuff and Mrs. Skul is working on getting their house set up for Skul to come home. Now that they are closer to home, I can get back to work on rehoming some of the flyers. Wish me luck and feel free to say hello on Darla and Spanky's thread. Skul is able to get online and read our updates. :thumbsup

If any are coming to Florida I sure would be able to give some a home here. Magna and I are working pretty much together now :grin. And either one of us could take flyers and give them a home. All my cages are inside my house, I am putting together a new flight cage (one of Sweeper's PVC cages) should have that up soon-I hope. It will house just females since that seems to be the majority at this time. Have an cage with just males also that still has room for more. I can always build another cage too, if needed!

I am thrilled to hear that he is doing better. In spite of this, he has a long road ahead of him. I thought it would be nice if we could send some cards of encouragement to Skul and Christal to let them know we are still thinking about them. Wow, I sure am! I really miss Skul's knowledge, humor and wit and also Christal's knowledge of flyers. We sure need them back. :Love_Icon
