Just got back from taking a little girl to the vet teaching hospital. I was working outdoors and she parked herself in a bird bath in the garage. In order to coax her out, I gave her some walnuts. She seemed to have trouble finding them and quickly just laid down. She even allowed the neighbor cat to sniff her bottom. I decided very quickly that she was in trouble, so got a cat carrier, tossed a blanket over her and took her in. They found that she has broken teeth and has probably been unable to eat, hence her weakened state. They said they will do what they can, if they can give her a decent quality of life, otherwise, they will send her on to the Rainbow Bridge. I've never heard of such a thing, and wondered if any of you have either. What, on earth, might cause this? I don't have much hope for her rehabilitation, and doubt she could ever survive in the wild again. Poor sweet little girl - prayers for her.
