I know these are not squirrels but...
Rains have caused serious flooding and I found several baby bunnies last night - (2 were already dead and 3 partially drowned ) - all 3 hypothermic and two very near death- I have managed to warm them sufficiently and have been giving minimal water to try to keep them from dehydrating but now
It has stopped raining - is it possible to try to return them to the area - the water has receeded so the nesting area is wet but no longer under water
-It has not been 24hours yet - will mom return for them if I try to rebuild a nest area? I of course have handled them - will mom take them back w/ human scent ? Since they were so close to death should there even be an attempt to return them?
I have tried checking for respiratory issues as there may be some as they really were exposed to some serious flooding etc. I am actually surprised they are still alive as two out of the three surviving babies were in such poor condition,
I have given some water = I have pedialite, I have on hand FV 20/50 as well as the FV boost. I have mothering nipples as well - I have several antibiotics, I certainly would prefer to reunite them or find a rehabber or facility t take them - I was told by friends that the rehabber here in south jersey doesn't take rabbits. (is that possible?)
Any and all advice would be appreciated
Thanks
