today I found a baby squirrel in one of my neighbors driveways. I took him home and put him in a carrier with a heating pad, and later we gave him the water, sugar and salt to hydrate him. i helped him go to the bathroom a few times, and he went a couple times without my help.

later I got puppy formula, but the only thing I could get was the GNC puppy liquid kind. I read that it wasn't the best thing for baby squirrels, but it's all I could get. I gave him some, because I figured it would be better than nothing.

tomorrow I'm going to call a rehab place for him, but I just want to know if im doing the right things. He hasn't opened his eyes yet, but he has fur.

T oanswer your question, yes, it seems that you're on the right track. Can you post a pic? Ho much are you feeding him and on what schedule? Are you feeding with a 1cc syringe?

Here is out proper feeding technique thread with video. It's very important to avoid pneumonia.

Wait until you hear from out member who might be able to help you. You have to be very careful with rehabbers because many will euthanize for any number of bad reasons.

Thank you tylersquirrel for rescuing this little girl, keeping her
warm, safe and seeking experienced help for her.
She is a little thin and very dehydrated, if not for you I do
not believe she could have made it much longer.
She has a bit of spunk with her and in a few days I think
she will turn around and do just fine.

Been a very hectic day but will start a new forum for her
as soon as I can and post the link here so you can follow
her progress.

Be proud of yourself, you did good! :grouphug
