I've recently rescued 4 baby flyers. One of them ended up with aspiration pneumonia and went downhill FAST. Sadly, he passed away. The other three were great until one of them started acting strange. She is sleeping more than the others, and not near as rambunctious as them. I'm worried that she may have pneumonia even though she isn't clicking like the other baby that passed. It's late and I can't get a hold of my vet tonight..but I do have 3 antibiotics on hand:
Amoxicillin 500mg capsules
Augmentin 500mg tablets
Nitrofurantoin (macrobid) 100 mg capsules
Can someone let me know if any of these are appropriate, and dosage calcs for this baby who I'm pretty sure weighs about 30 grams..I can try and upload a pic if that would be helpful. Thank you in advance for the advice!!

Yes, that's it. I searched and searched thinking I might have some cipro, but found nothing.

I don't have a scale, but I was told by a rehabber yesterday that they are probably about 30 grams.

Yes, eating great, pooping and peeing just fine. She's just soooo sleepy and she seems weak..well, compared to the other two who are insane with energy! She doesn't want to play like they do..but at feeding time she wakes up a great deal. I don't want to be so sure and just decide that it's her Personality. Watching that other baby go down so quickly was heartbreaking!

I think that I have the Skul's phone number, and they are our premiere flyer experts. They encourage calls at all hours and generally tend to be nocturnal anyhow. I think that they can dose for you, but of not, and it's really en emergency, I think that I can. I've done it before, I have the book, but I'm rusty.
Let me look for that number and I'll pm it to you momentarily. If no contact, let me know here so that I can dose. I have to got to bed at 1:30. No later.

In my experience you want to make sure there is a problem before giving meds.. You are sure there is No Clicking?? she is eating good and bathroom the only thing is she is sleeping.. with pneumonia they usually don't eat as much and u will hear clicking even if it is faint.be sure you listen closely . I have flyers and raised and rehabbed them. :thumbsup

I would reread this before dosing to make sure I agree that it should happen. Right now though I'm speeding through TSB making sure everything is cool. I want to finish up quickly though so that I can have a few minutes to myself before bed.

It's the lethargy that is worrying me. They all sleep. I can just tell soemthing is wrong with this one.

In my organization we have amoxi for pneumonia and it does help but you really need to be sure something is wrong before giving meds. It is really hard to treat something with correct meds if you don't know what ur treating. that being said I hope you can get the correct dose and I really hope it is a false alarm and your baby is fine.. if u don't give meds just check with your vet in the morning to be sure nothing is going on..:)

The rehabber you mentioned, should have Baytril available. You might ask.
Flyers all seem to have different personalities, so being observant is important.
You mentioned that the girl appears active when awake, and does eat well. If she was sick, I think you'd notice weakness and lethargy.
