Initially, I thought Dunky as rubbing his head on something in his cage - nest, bars, toys, what have you but because they seem to be spreading, now I am sure it's something else.
They are slightly raised bumps that don't seem to grow any hair. Nutritionally, I think he is okay. He eats most of his picky blocks and then moves on to fruits and veggies. So what are the mystery bumps?

Are they only on his head?

Are they only on his head?
Yup. Just his head. Where he lost fur before, on his butt, has grown in nicely. I think it was just a molt.
What you can see on his head is everything.

Could this be mites? Is there any other animals in the house? I am no expert but was reading a thread earlier about this. They look like pimples and itch.

What is the bar spacing on his cage? Could he be putting his head through the bars somewhat?

I treated him for mites a few weeks ago (when he was missing fur on his butt) but that has cleared up while the stuff on his head has not.
I don't know if he actually HAD mites but did it to be on the safe side.
He doesn't scratch these... I don't think they itch. They don't seem to be painful to him either, you can touch them and he's fine with that.

It's a ferret nation cage... I am thinking the bar spacing is about an inch but I've never seen him put his head through the bars. If he wants out, he will race back and forth but I've ever even really seen him rub his head on the bars.

Rex had the same thing, a few years ago, and it was because he wasn't getting enough sunlight. I put in a UVB reptile light and his fur grew right back.

Oh wow. That's an easy fix. I am hoping he can be released in another month or so but in the meantime, I can easily put a full spectrum light in there. (Whether or not he wants to be released is a different question!)
Thank you Duckman!!
