Hello everyone. My southern flying squirrel has diarrhea for 3 days now. I tried changing the foods he normally would eat but I don't see any change in his stool. I went on vacation, and left him with my mother who he does not like at all but she was the only one I had at the time to watch him. She was giving him carrot and celery sticks along with hard shelled nuts. Since she cannot play with him, he was in his cage for the 5 days I was on vacation. He normally has squirrel blocks but they have not arrived yet and I noticed when I gave him formula, he had diarrhea as well so he has not had any for some time now. I am not giving him salad with a cube of fruit (strawberry, mango, kiwi, grapes, etc.) and some sort of other veggie like broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, etc. I know that he got ahold of a grape tomato out of my own salad and would not let it go when I tried to take it. Im not sure if that had something to do with it either. But the diarrhea has been going on for about 3 days now and it is out of control. It is literally a light brown liquid sometimes has a clear liquid around it and sometimes has seeds from the strawberry as well. Please get back to me!

Stop all fruit. Sugar draws water into the gut and can cause it or make it worse.
Make sure he stays hydrated. Pedialyte is great, and you can make your own - 1 tsp salt (teaspoon)
3 Tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
1 quart warm water
Fibrous foods are good. Fiber soaks up water and serves as a regulator. It's good for constipation because it absorbs water and makes the stool softer, and it's good for diarrhea because it absorbs excess water. Too much is bad though. Some pumpkin would be great. You can get it in baby food form too.
I don;t understand why blocks aren't offered now.
