Landlord trapping squirrels in attic... while I'm on vacation.

Out of nowhere, my usually negligent and unaware landlord hired a wildlife control company to trap and remove squirrels that are living in our attic. I just called and confirmed that they do not relocate and the squirrels will be killed. On top of all that, I'm out of town for 5 days and thus can't stage an intervention myself. Any ideas?

Trap and relocate them before you leave to go out of town. Ask your landlord if you can provide this service to him at no cost.

good idea! (probably illegal, but what the hell, they are already immoral)

Most nuisance abatement workers will be happy to get paid twice.
A rehabber friend in the area could also be a good intermediate.

I would check state laws-There may be laws protecting them durring mating season - it is in my state - Last year we found a neighbor trapping squirrels on their roof - they had left the cage there several hours in very cold and inclement weather (female trapped - with her babies wandering on the ground below) - Beside myself, I called animal control. They told me it was illegal- Not only did they set the caged squirrel free but sited the owner for cruelty- I thought I was told they could not be removed durring mating season but I can not remember if the pest control and wildlife management guys are exempt or not - I was also told they won't relocate due to disease transferance issues - immoral I agree with - don't know how some can sleep at night - there is a price to pay for all one does - what goes around...
