I was feeding my 5 week old baby this morning.. at the end he started sneezing and kept his mouth open for a minute or so! I didn't know what this meant until I just read that I may have aspirated him? I didn't know what to do. He is fine now no sneezing or holding his mouth open.. is he going to be ok or what should I do?? Please help I am so upset because I don't want my baby to die or get sick!!

Do you have a vet?
Without any hesitation, you will need to give antibiotics. Baytril and Sulfatrim/Smz is preferred, but there are a couple human types that can be broken down and dosed if you don't have a vet or access to animal meds. Cipro is great and common if you can ask around to family and friends and see if anyone has some left over. If you find just one pill and weigh the baby, someone here can dose for you.
It is possible that fluid never reached the lungs, but its never worth the risk of just waiting to see as aspiration pneumonia kills quickly.

I do have a vet but they said he is too young to give antibiotics. I would take him in a heart beat if I thought they wouldn't put him down! I am not familiar with cipro but let me check around with family members and friends.. if I can't find any, is there anything else??

I know you have another thread going but just making sure here that you are using a syringe to feed?
Have you seen the video for proper feeding technique? Also, is he clicking when he breathes?
Aspiration pneumonia is very serious and you should try your best to find some Baytril/Sulfatrim/Cipro for your little guy.

Yes ma'am I am using a 1cc syringe. Just fed him too fast I guess because he was sucking it down like it was fine!! I feel terrible. I am going to do the best I can to find some meds today! When I get some will you please explain how to give it and how much

:thumbsup
Btw, I see in your other thread there is a member near Wiggins, Gulf Port area, who is offering to connect you with her vet. Could you contact this member by private message and get your baby to a vet? They will be able to help you with meds and check your squirrel regarding the green diarrhea etc. Please contact SammySquirrel. :)
So the experts can help you a whole lot better, could you update your other thread with more details? :thankyou
They will be able to dose meds if you can get them. However, I still think it's important to get your squirrel to a vet if possible.

If you aren't able to find the correct meds, and especially if you begin to hear a clicking with each breath, you may have to turn the baby over to save his life.
Here is a list of Mississippi Rehabilitators. They often have other contacts and most are willing to drive to save a baby.
