Hi there,
I have two squirrlies, my little boy (6-7 months old) is seeming thinner and not as healthy as his sister. I have been feeding him separately thinking she may be dominating their food and bullying him. I can't say that he's been eating his blocks the way he should be, I found a bunch stashed in their hammock. He loves his veggies, but I'm concerned about the possibility of his health deteriorating.
I was wondering if it would be okay to start feeding him fox valley formula to healthy him up? And if so what would be feeding recommendations, as in how much and how often? Also, if so, would I not feed him other things as well?
Thanks so much for any and all advice! I appreciate your time. I just want to do what's best for my baby boy! He doesn't seem sickly or uncomfortable. He has an appetite, I'm just concerned that as of lately he isn't getting all of the nutrition he needs. He's very active and playful. & he doesn't seem to be distressed in his movements.
Again, thank you!

FV is great to feed any squirrel of any age. Many people wish that theirs would take it when older. It's very good for them. Give him whatever he likes.

Not eating his blocks, not getting the dailey nutrients he needs.
Vegetables alone are not going to supply them. If you can get him back
to the FV that's good but you will still have to get him eating block at
some point. Maybe switching the type block would help, what are the
type hhb's you have tried him on so far?

Thank you so so much Farrelli!! That makes me so happy. I still had some powder from the esbilac I used to feed them. I made a pinch just to see if he'd take it and he was so enthusiastic! I purchased the fox valley last night. Everything I've read has made me nervous about esbilac, although I used the powder with probiotics with them successfully... but fox valley has such rave reviews I figured I'd be safe and go that route.
I purchased the 32/40, is that correct or should I have purchased the 20/50?
Thanks again for your help!

At his age better choice would be 20/50.
Call them and they will switch it if not shipped yet.

Since you already ordered the 32/40 just add some vanilla yogurt into the mix and all should be fine.
I never change up to the 20/50 and all my rehab squirrels leave me big and healthy. :thumbsup
*I also place a little bit of vanilla yogurt on the bottom of their feeding bowl then place chopped up
pieces of the hhb over the yogurt and even my picky squirrels eat every last piece of the block.

Thank you stepnstone! I was able to change it. They're so accommodating and helpful! I have been getting the Harlan Teklan 2018 blocks. Little girl eats them okay, not the full block though, she kind of eats around them, is that normal?
I have a ton left but i purchased the growth blocks from henrys to see if they eat that better. I just feel very comforted with the knowledge that I can give my little boy boosted nutrition from the formula! He lays back in my hand and hangs out all the time, but I'm so excited to be able to spend that extra time with him (I will be using a syringe as long as he doesn't try to eat it!) :grin3
&& Thank you Rhapsody!! I will try using that method with this current block and henrys if he doesn't take to it! Little girl isn't as picky, but maybe it'll help her to eat it even better. :grin2

I hope you keep you hhb's in the fridge or better yet freezer.
They do not have the added preservatives in them other blocks
have so you can't dry store them the same. They will go bad.
Many of us have found ours take to the picky blocks way better
over the other types.

You can grind up the HHBs and add babyfood and ground nuts to make a treat we call "Boo Balls".
There are several recipes in the nutrition section. I'm in Costa Rica and my CREW will only eat them (HHBs) mixed as balls.
