While he was laying on his back in the hammock today I noticed his penis is quite swollen at the base but not the tip and it's quite red. He seems to be urinating fine and eating and drinking great. Any suggestions?

Can you post a picture? It might be easier for us to tell what the issue is. How old is he?

I'm guessing coming 1 yr old. He's almost 2 lbs. I brought him out onto my bed and found he had quite a bit of bedding stuck in there. So I was able to get it out and have removed his bedding for the mean time. He's not happy that he's doesn't have his digging box. It must have irritated it enough over night to swell since it wisent like that yesterday. I will try to post a pic though so you can see and will keep ya updated.

If you have fleece or flannel or even tee shirts it makes the best bedding. You should take a close look and be sure there is not a threat wrapped around his penis causing the issue.

What type of "bedding" has he had that would get "stuck in there?" :thinking

Yes, even a tiny, almost invisible hair-like thread could be the culprit. Best to check.

I would get that boy to a vet. If he was suckling himself (flexible little devils) looks like it would be swollen at the tip. If he's got a hair strangling his parts or a thread, (like Farrelli mentioned) it might be surrounded by swollen tissue and you wouldn't necessarially see it. A vet can take a thorough look-see

Yes, he needs a vet. That is not normal and can become life threatening very quickly, depending on what is going on inside.

He had the care fresh bedding ( fluffy gray stuff). We are going to the vet tmw to get it looked at. I am going to check him again when I get home to check for any hairs that may have gotten wrapped around there. It's not swollen at the tip, but lower down.

Does he have strong smelling urine?

Update!! Much much better now. Took some sugar water in a syringe and washed it out really good for the last couple days. Swelling went down and no longer red! And he must be relieved because he's awfully snugly now. Lol. Couldn't help but laugh as he chattered away while getting "it" cleaned. Ugh. Lol
