Hi Charlotte has been very stubborn lately about drinking water. The only time I can get her to drink is late at night when shes half asleep. Should I be concerned? Other than that shes great finally got her to drop a little weight. No unusual behavior oh yeah she likes to drink the water out of the fish tank seems like that would be unhealthy for her. Please advise.

Thank you,
LIZ

I can't say anything about the fish tank water but my girl loves to lick fresh water droplets off of things. Maybe bringing a saucer of fresh water or a dripping faucet (I just witnessed Resilie drinking from it like a cat today). Good luck with it :grouphug

Have you tried both a dish and a bottle? Have you tried adding a tiny bit of apple juice or something to flavor it?

Most importantly, have you tested for dehydration? Gently pinch the skin between the shoulders and see if it tents. It should go right back down like on the back of your hand.

Is she peeing normally? Does it have any odor or unusual color?

Shes definately not dehydrated. She is urinating normally and very very happy. I have put water in a saucer and am currently using a water bottle. I guess I will continue giving it to her at night and every chance I get.

On another note, I'd like to share that never in a million years would I have thought that my Charlotte would become the love of my life! I cuddle her and rock her to sleep at night in a warm blanket. She will cuddle herself on my chest twitch and make funny faces while she dreams. My friend cannot believe what an amazing job I have done with her and how much that little squirrel trusts me. She will be 1 year old next month when will she go into heat what should I expect to happen? Thank you for your help

There's really no telling what will happen. Some seem totally fine with it, some become a bit agitated, some get plain evil. For some it lasts a day, for some months, and some just truly wild up and will be unhappy inside forever after. I really hope your little girl is one where it's only minor and short lived. I think that the fact that she hasn't gone into heat yet (to your knowledge) is a good sign.

I have one more question farrelli, is it true that they bleed while in heat?
