Ziggy is acting fine but he does have some thing going on some where he has that infection odor around his head.. what the heck:eek, I did give him baytril.. I don't know if it is his ears or mouth.. I know it is around his head.. but cant tell where it is coming from.. considering he cant crack a nut or have a hard bite I am wondering about his mouth but he was wanting his food soo he was not calm enough but I will examine him more when he is napping..
If you can, check inside the ears while you're at it.

I know with my human daughter her breath would smell bad when her sinuses were infected :dono maybe he has a sinus infection and that may be what's wrong with Alex also :dono wouldn't that affect his balance :thinking Praying for you all:Love_Icon
Won't the baytril help any of those type of infections?

Check his ears, eyes, nose and mouth (teeth, roof of mouth). Looks for swelling, discharge, redness. A earth or sinus infection could effect his balance and make it worse.

Whoops, you are right. :tilt I was thinking about Alex. Well, same thing apples to Ziggy. 7-10 days of Baytril should knock out most bacterial infections.

just got back from vet with ziggy, here are his xrays.. he does have the beginning of mbd and his spine has some sorta injury too she said probably from mbd.. his teeth were very thick and long so she trimmed them and fixed to top. so maybe he can now crack nuts.. my poor boy.. she said it has hit on of his hips hard and has started in the other bones but she also said tat the was he was then and is now is a major improvement. remember when I got him he was in pain hopping instead of walking and not climbing at all.. I hope his teeth issue is fixed now.. also he is about 4 yrs old and just small..:Love_Icon

Sweet little boy :grouphug I never can see anything on an Xray :tinfoil But glad he got to get his teeth trimmed, Simon had his done today and I am so relived, I always panic but with the tooth guru at his vets office, Kevin who does such a fantastic job, it is getting easier :thumbsup
So wonder what the smell was, but maybe the Baytril did help :dono

Sounds like you have him on the mend! :thumbsup
He is pretty small for an adult squirrel, a mini squirrel.:)

Ziggy is so lucky to have you for his new mommy!! I can't ever tell anything on x-rays either unless it specifically pointed out.
I'm glad the report from the vet is as good as it is considering his life before he came to you.
Keep up the good squirrel parenting!! :thumbsup

I'll say it again...Yay! Ziggy :grouphug I'm happy that there's improvement and relieved it (MBD) hadn't gotten worse...that's scary that it was affecting his backbone :shakehead Ziggy really is lucky to have made his way to you :Love_Icon Just in time it appears :thumbsup

Great report on Ziggy and glad to have the xray to reference. I can see what he is talking about on the spine injury, and can also see an old rib injury, that doesn't appear to have healed correctly, but shouldn't bother him now. I don't think this would have been as good of a report, had he not come to you when he did. From the look of the hips, they wouldn't have supported him much longer. Do you still have him on Pain Meds, or have you stopped those already. My guess is that he might still be hurting from the back injury, but that is probably going to bother him the rest of his life. If you have stopped, there isn't any reason to start back up again, unless he shows signs of pain. You are going to have to watch him closely though, for the rest of his life, because he will have some pain off and on, and you will need to watch him and recognize when that occurs.
