Jill started attacking my husband last week. They used to play. Now she bites him just when he walks by. Growls at him. Started charging his face last week when he was just sitting on couch. Just attacked his face tonight unprovoked. It was after she decided to jump on his jeans and run around and then bam, she got his face twice. Blood. No he hasn't changed deodorants, soap, shampoo......is there anything I can do. Had him even offer her treats and she still bites him. Blood drawing bites. Not nips. She has Never Done any of this to me. I don't know what to do. Will it be like this forever. I have to occasionally travel and he takes care of her...which he is saying he is not going to do now.:eek

Our Sammy has gone through these weird phases when he attacked one or the other of us for a couple of weeks at a time. It passed because we sort of pushed ourselves on him using gloves to pet him and give treats. I must admit though, he has never been a "face planter". For us, it is hands and arms. I hope she gets over this nasty time. I know it SUCKS and my husband seems to have a harder time not personalizing it.

Better get a Stosh Helmet for him. Ever seen it? It's what he has to wear around his squirrel Rama. She may change, she may not. Sorry to hear that. :(

I've had the same happen to me. Don't have a clue why.

I'm so sad for both of them. He really loved playing with her. She turns into a mean, nasty, grunting, biatch when he comes around now. And he says it's because I spend too much alone time with her and she is spoiled. Both true but I don't think it's my fault. She is an only child and I am mom. So yes, when I work from home her spot is on my arm all day. Like a security blanket. Sit on moms arm to eat....have to eat whatever writing utensil mom has in her hands.
I have socialized her with our kids very weekend when home from college and sometimes during the week. I made sure she stays out when they come over so she gets used to other hoomans and not just me. But she seems just to hate him.

Take it from someone who DOES WEAR it...
I've had a few... FACE CHOMPS !!
But for over two years I have been Bite Free...
I just keep the HELMET close ( and my welders gloves too ) and only if RAMA ROTA heads my way--do I put them on.

Well, maybe he'd like something more akin to whopoopwrasse's - an older model and not as flashy.
Maybe more his style? :dono

Rama will chatter at me EVERY day and charge the cage to get at me...
He "chose" RamaMama years ago and is a MUSH with her.
I can give him a treat--he takes it thru a small hole in the cage...and still chatters at me...
BUT I love him all the same...

If she's still sociable with the kids and it's just your husband,
it's definitely him but I still wouldn't put away the thought that
something changed.
Have you covered everything? It could be from shaving cream,
mouth wash, to dog hair on your pants.
Could husband be bringing in something from work he's been around?

Sques are quick to let you know something offends them,
...sure aren't quick in the explanation department. :dono

Oh Goodness Stosh! I have never seen an attack that bad!

Mollybear, it may be a phase and might be gone in a week or two, or she might have decided you are her human. Most squirrels only have 1 close human. There are a few that bond with many (like my Rex), but don't be too surprised if she has decided to bond with only one human going forward. It is heartbreaking, but that is just the way they are.

Yikes! I have been victim to a few Skiddil faceplants, even one during which her front paw went IN my nostril (OUCHIE!!!), but you definitely have me beat. I have considered wearing something for protection, but haven't yet. Skiddil doesn't try to be mean...she just gets a bit overzealous in her use of me as a jungle gym. :eek

I sure hope Jill settles down...and soon!

I feel for you. Ziggy bit me rather badly last night (it was the second time he has done more than a little nip). I'm trying to figure out why also. He is about 18 weeks old and has been with me since he was 3 weeks. I have been wearing nylon gloves with him for a couple of months since the scratches and such were getting hard to explain at work. He bit right through the glove. I had a hard time getting him off me to try to stop the bleeding. I don't want him to feel unloved, but I am a BIG wimp about being bitten too. Any advise would be greatly appreciated . I'm a first time squirrel mom.

Omg Stosh. That's close
She got him four times on the face before I got her off of him. One very very close to his eye. I've covered everything and hubby's all the same... Sigh

Ziggy I'm not sure it's a popular thing here but I work in sales and in South Texas so instead of everyone thinking I'm a cutter.... I've been trimming her nails. Done it a couple times... Did again tonight as husband sat amazed saying there is no way she's gonna let You do that. But I do. My girl may fuss and whine at me sometimes but she has never ever bit me... Even when I wrap her in a burrito for a manicure. She actually goes to sleep. I'm not sure it's the greatest recommendation as if you do it. Wrong they can get split nails and issues but it works for us. Also you have to be very careful as they then lose their ability to climb as well. For Jill, she only has three good legs and can't climb high or jump anyways so it's not that big of a deal for HER. I just barely snip off the hooks on the end so she can't tear my arms apart when we play. She's a wrestler. And now I am her only playmate.... I wouldn't think any squirrel would like the gloves.

Bahaha. That's me. Minus the gloves and headgear. But robe is pink.... And I'm outside screaming for Joe, Tito, and Lucy after they were released and I was a mess. My husband yelling to to get my crazy ass inside before the neighbors called the cops. He loves to tell everyone this story. See it could be worse. I think I shall make him some Stosh headgear for Christmas.

I completely know this pain. Pixie has attacked when she comes in heat, nut aggression, and pain. I have noticed that if they don't get enough excersise that there bowls lock up and turn hard. This is when Pixie turns mean due to pain. I have to watch her diet and excersise closely b/c her digestive system is very sensitive. Also some of my squirrels that had nasal bleeding as babies get aggravated if strong smells are around. I cant fold clothes around one of my squirrels b/c he will attack the cage due to the smell of the clothes and I use ALL free and clear no scent. Just a few things to look for:crazy
