I'm getting tired (broke) of giving the little dude pieces of HHB, only to find it dried up and uninviting. Mr. Duckman, we need to invent a PEZ dispenser for HHB!

As my grandma taught me, "make 'em beg for it".

When we handed anything to our child when he was young, he'd half-heartedly play with it. When we left it visible, but just out of reach, once he begged for it, it was SO much more fun.

Hmm...this is an interesting idea. Wonder if putting HHB's just out of reach for a few hours will make them more enticing. Owena eats her morning block, but has been stashing her afternoon one. Worth a try!

Anything you make for them needs to be something that can be "nose operated" because that is how they manipulate things - not with their little hands (and if they ever realize they have little vestigial thumbs I believe we are doomed). I messed with some "caged nut" parrot toys and it was rejected, even with the nut in it, because it was nose proof.

As far as hard HHB's - take the big pieces and out them in a little plastic refrigerator container with a small slice or two of apple. They will be rehydrated the next morning.

I was at a wildlife rehab conference awhile back, in a squirrel lecture of course, and the speaker asked if anyone truly knew a good repellant to keep squirrels out of vegetable gardens -- something we could tell the general public so they wouldn't hate our furry friends so much...... Somebody yelled out "rodent block!" and the whole room went nuts. :grin3

I plan on testing this further, however, I placed a "live" wire and a "dead" wire in front of the little guy. Guess which one he preferred.

He loves old-school coiled telephone cable.

All my guys love HHB, but for Simon I break them up into very small pieces, almost to crumbs, and put them into warm FV and yum yum all gone and no hidden pieces :thumbsup

As soon as I unplugged it and gave it to him, he ignores it. Proof that either it has to be "live" or "off limits".

I know my sister would rather climb up a telephone pole and tell a lie, that stand on the ground and tell the truth..:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl: crazy:crazy

I've been finger wrestling with him for nearly an hour. As soon as the fingers stop wiggling, he loses interest.
