I know this may be off-topic, but I have two wicker rocking chairs on my front porch that we've had for 12 years. Probably six years ago, I noticed a squirrel liked to climb up and appeared to be looking at his reflection in the window. Early this year, he and now several youngsters have decided to shred it. I tried repellant sprays, hair, urine, hot sauce, and finally gave up, as one is a total loss. I have another one that everyone's ignored until the latest group of "hatch-lings" discovered it.
Is there anything to repel them, short of an electric fence, which I won't do?

i thought about putting this out there, but I feel guilty enough about all the bugs I've zapped.

Seriously though, do you feed the wilds and if so were, maybe you need to feed them farther away from the house, or stop all together so they will venture else where, go feed them in a local park. I love my wilds but I love my house and I feed only once in a while so they enjoy the acorns that are raining down right now not my window sills.

I don't feed anyone. They just love the texture, I think.

I think once one starts chewing on something, other squirrels smell it and assume it must be good eating/chewing. They might have been removing parts of the chair for nesting material.
Try moving the chair somewhere else? Maybe cover it with a throw cloth when not being used?

One is fine, but I'd prefer to not have a matching set, if there's any way to avoid it. From everything I've been able to find, there ain't much I can do. I figured y'all are the experts.
EDIT: Besides, I gotta leave something for my little guy to shred this Spring.

I love it! Thanks to the Internet, I can now buy 100% organic coyote pee! :grin
Are they free range or caged? I want organic, free range, breast fed pee! :grin2
EDIT: I guess they should be post-pubescent, but pre-menopausal, so all their territorial hormones are in their peak aromatic state.

Are there any that have been used with success? I'm guessing that if it stinks enough to keep squirrels away, people might not want to sit on it. :grin3

strobe lights and loud music keep them out of attics, you should have a party!!!

Tried that. I had two groups of babies raised in my attic before I found their entrance. I made sure to wait until the young'uns were on their own before I sealed them out. I risked fire damage to my house before I'd kick them out too soon, or worse, separate parents from their babies.
