I'm on my way home with him, his tail is gone except bone, I suspect another injury as well because there's a maggot in the box I got him on. I picked up from someone who found him clinging to a tree. He also shows signs of brain damage. I need Tramadol dosage. Please email me if you can help: amberswildliferehabilitation@aol.com

I will email you the dosage now for Tramadol.
Do you know if this is the 50 mg? I believe that's what it comes in.
Just remember too with head trauma, no additional heat, just make sure
that he has lots of blankets in to snuggle into.
He may seize too, so be prepared with molasses or maple syrup.

Need a weight on him, is he adult or juvie or can you tell? Praying for this baby. Do you have capstar? If head injury, may want to go with metacam for inflammation.

I sent the chart to you by email and by pm.
If you need anything, let me know.
I will keep checking the board.
I will alert Jackie to this thread also,
as I am not 100% sure with dosing the prednisone.

Sorry I haven't gotten on to update. She has an abscess that is about an inch wide and inch deep full of maggots. I've been cleaning it out with diluted chlorahexadine wash and got a lot out but there is still a ton in there :/. I gave her a dose of Tramadol and Cipro.

I have the head of the organization I work under coming over to take a look. She said there may be too many maggots to treat with Capstar

I'm not giving up...she just may want to try something different if there are too many internally because there can be adverse reactions. She is resting for now. Will update after the lady comes over.

Yes yes and YES., Capstar is almost impossible to overdose and will kill internal maggots....PLEASE use it, it's a miracle drug.

I gave him a chance but the maggots had done too much damage :(. They had perforated his intestines and he had lost all feeling around his butt. He was basically rotting. The woman who came over has 20 years of experience and still told me this was the worst she has ever seen it. We humanely euthanized him. I want you guys to know that I have NEVER had to euthanize, and do not take euthanizing lightly. But after seeing what she showed me with experienced hands, I knew it was the right decision. He was suffering 💔.

RIP little one. At least you felt love in your final hours. Thank you for your compassion and caring M&M. God just had different plans for this one (God needs squirrels to climb on him too!) It is sad though.
