I've been gathering stuff to make HHbs since I bought my last bag from Henrys. Then I had all this formula and saw the booballs recipe. So I combined them leaving out the rodent blocks and probiotics. This it the result: 217681 and they were quiet a success!!! Very happy about this!

I'm telling you if FV wasn't in it I would be fighting Squeak for them! However I'm positive that FV would be so much better than some of the stuff I eat!

It was very very simple. I'll post it up when I get back home. I had to give her one to try before bed though. She growled when I went to give her her nightly rub!! No crumbs left either!

Homemade HHB’s/Booball Recipe:

I literally took 2 recipes and combined them omitting a few items from the Boo Ball recipe. With so much goodness in these blocks I used both the nuts from the HHB recipe and the nuts from the Booball recipe to ensure that they would be eaten and I would know she was getting her nutrients. I worry so much that she’s not getting what she is supposed to have even though Blocks are the first thing she gets everyday. I didn’t weigh the end result in the ziplock bag but I used a gallon freezer bag and it is ¾ full when I was done cutting it up.

Dry Ingredients:
50 grams (1/2 Cup) powdered Fox Valley squirrel formula. (I had both bags left over and just combined them in one container.)
50 grams (1/3 Cup) crushed pecans.(I used a mixture of pecans and Hazel nuts) You can substitute any nut you prefer, however NO peanuts.
80 g Pure Whey Protein Isolate for adult formula (for growth formula, use 160 g). I used 160g for this batch.
130 g finely ground nuts (any kind; No Peanuts) - I used a mixture of pecans and hazelnuts
1/3 cup wheat flour
1 tsp aluminum-free baking powder
1 package (33 g) Henry's Healthy Vita-Mins*

Wet Ingredients:
119 grams Apple Sauce. (original recipe calls for organic baby food. I had organic apple sauce in the fridge already and was not buying baby food)
10 grams (approx. 3/4 tsp) "organic" coconut oil
1 whole egg
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 cup water

Instructions:
Mix the dry ingredients well and then add the wet ingredients. Mix very well. It should almost be like a cake batter. If wetter then this, add a little flour to dry it up.
I greased a Square Glass (8x8) with coconut oil (rubbed on bottom and sides like you would butter) and poured mixture in.
Bake at 205 for 1 and ½ hour. (Dehydrating without burning) Pull out of oven and use a knife to loosen the sides and bottom. Flip baking dish over and let fall out. The bottom of mine was still a little wet so I put it back in the baking dish with the bottom side up and baked for 20 more mins. You can cook longer if you want them harder. Mine turned out with crunchy top and a nice firm middle and bottom. I am going to try for harder crunchier blocks next time but this batch cut up very nicely.
Remove from dish and let cool.
Cut into desired portion size. (I had been cutting the Henry’s blocks in half so I tried to get this size when I cut mine so I could keep the feeding at 4 blocks a day)
Store in the fridge and/or freezer

The house literally smelled so good while they were cooking and they looked so delicious we both wanted to try them when they were done!

I would make sure that it is 100% whey protein isolate. Most of the time it is vanilla or chocolate flavored which I would think vanilla would be fine but I found one that was 100% natural without flavoring. Henry's also carries it as well. GNC carries a lot of different kinds as well but I would make sure that it is not the red and black container. (this is the one for extreme workouts)

These look delicious! :wave Any other great recipes, chef?
(You may need to make us a book! Could be a great item to purchase for helping raise rehab costs or animal transfer money! I would buy one :wave123)

Ok great, thanks for the info:thumbsup:grin3 I did see the 100% natural without flavoring and thats what started getting me confused. Wasnt sure if vanilla or non flavored would be better.

This is the only one for the squirts.....now if you want an amazing Apple, Cherry Pecan crisp I can hook you up.

I actually did think about selling them. Being able to put the money back in to Squeaks needs would be amazing! Just didn't know how to sell my bakes. But I am willing if people want to buy them. I would say that the batch I made was at least 2lbs. I'll weigh that tonight too.

Edit*** I just saw the part about making a book. Oh I could DEFINITELY put something together...

Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't there be too many supplements, as in, they’re being over supplemented with nutrients they may not be able to process in their system??? I’m sure one of the experts will know for sure.

I spoke with Chris and Leigh about exactly that about 2 weeks ago now. The HHBs are supposed to be perfectly balanced. Too much stuff can not only be toxic but it can cause other problems as well. That saying too much of a good thing isn't good anymore... Also, doubling the nuts (IF I read that right) probably isn't the greatest idea since nuts leach calcium out of the system. That's why the board only recommends maybe 1 nuts a day as a treat. :dono Just stating the stuff I know and/or was told. Not really sure if it applies to the recipe or not. I would suggest speaking with Leigh at Henry's about it. She's excellent and would happily help you out!!
