hello im new to this well here it goes.
my neighbors kid shot the mom of 2 baby squirrels (a boy and a girl) and my boyfriends brothers went and got the babies from the neighbors because they said they had no idea what to do with them so we had them for about three weeks until one died (the boy) about last week (we think that it dry drowned because it was lick coughing sound and then when we woke up he had passed) and now the girl is acting strange. last night when we got home my boyfriends mom said the squirrel was laying in its hammock with its head drooped over the side and she was sleeping with it so we took and slept with it because we thought it might just be depressed. but I'm not sure after reading info off this website i could be the change in her diet i guess because we aren't quit sure what she likes and we've been trying different things we did change her milk 2 days ago I'm not sure how old she is but she's not a baby baby but she still small can post pictures if needed please help me please and thank you

What have you been giving her since she came to you? What formula and what foods?

The coughing sound you mentioned ... would you describe it as a clicking sound? That's important information.

Amen Step! That is a neighbor that doesn't want me next door!
I suppose no one thought to try and locate a rehabilitator or seek "experienced" help before lives were lost. :shakehead

Nurturing wildlife is nothing like a domestic animal!
They have specific needs for their individual species and need experienced or at the very least, "guided" hands to ensure their survival.

Just got an email back from the finder. They were without internet for the whole day. She wants help, but was a bit put off by our responses. I assured her that we have had a ruin of people who didn't take advise and lost babies because of it. I also told her we have much to share and are really hoping we can do so and help her and her little one.

Although I edited this thread yesterday, I have undeleted the posts that were seen as "rude" by a finder who never even came back for help. This is exactly why the posts were made. People come and ask for help and then disappear and leave us wondering if there is a baby in trouble not getting the help that is needed.
