I've got the question on facebook:

Today we discovered a sweet little chipmunk has been making a winter nest in a car trunk...its so well done, with tons of seeds, and lots of fluff, however now that the car is fixed, us humans need it back! Anyone have any ideas of how I might be able to transfer it to something else so he can still use it? I was thinking of a small cat carrier in the garage where the car was being stored? Or should I just toss it? I feel awful!

You can't just let them have the car for the winter...?:poke:grin3
I would think a box or a cat carrier (that didn't smell like a cat) in the garage might do it.

I don't think the little chippy will like the smell of a cat carrier. Try using a cardboard bankers box, cutting out a little door for him/her under one of the handles. My sq. made a nest in one and she simply loves it!

I sent all your advices and I received this reply:

"
He wasnt in the car no, he runs around a lot outside and I am pretty sure he also lives in the attic of the shop/ garage. LOL. I just didnt want to ditch his things They look so pretty. I will put them in a cardboard box with a hole, in the garage. We have no problem with wildlife living in there, we have some barn swallows who nested in the wood holding part, and they come back yearly. I just didnt know what to do with his things. Thank you!!!!

I enjoyed hearing both their question, and their response at the end. It was kind of them to be concerned, and it made me smile! :grin3
