Hey all, today I almost had a heart attack! I have been reading the board for a while now, and I kept reading that some had heard their Squirrels makes weird barking noises....well, For a second I though I had a small dog or even the duck from Aflac in my home! hahhahahahah....still giggling when i think about it....I was lucky to get it on video... :) Would like t know what it meant, he seemed pretty agitated...but they were both alone in the garage..in their cage....so nothing could of scared them...except for their shadows, lol... my girl stayed in her nest box, we dont get to see her....so if any of you have insight on this '' Barking '' noise... feel free to comment....:thumbsup

Not sure what it means, but my NRs have made this noise before. One of the times was when they were in a carrier when they didn't want to be.

It's a call of alarm, he saw something he didn't like.
Usually in the wild they will do it to warn of a predator in the area.

Click on link below , scroll down, on the left you'll see "squirrel sounds,"
listen to each recording. :thumbsup

Oh yeah, that was a pretty standard alarm. He was really upset by something.

Since he was inside its hard to say what upset him, but some thing did..... My two older squirrels do this off and on and some times its from
some thing they saw outside (via the window) and at other times the blinds are closed and I have no ideal what so ever of what set them
off into a frenzy. ___> BTW --when I played your video all of my baby rehab squirrels came out to see what the fuss was about - lol.

Thanks again for the info, i setup a video camera in the garage where their cage is, and he started again, i just cannot see anything that would upset him this way...no shadows in windows or strange noises, I do my best to keep the environment clean quiet and give them their space to grow suspicious of their non natural surroundings. I want them to have best chances after their release...these are my first ones, so I wanna make sure i dont mess it up! I do give them lots of out time ( in the garage ) but i try not to be handling them or approach too much....they usually return to their nest box on their own after an hour or so....

I am feeding that my original little girl that I have since 2weeks old, is no longer wanting to get close to me...since I have found her a friend for the winter...she seems to have learn the squirrel way! I guess this is normal? Am I on the right path of thinking this way? I sure do miss the close encounters and playing with here tho.... :( Sorry if my english is hard to follow, mostly write french! :))
